Oh, and fear THIS!!! SP - I know you said you were gonna kick my butt; I'll give you another shot at it. How about posting now and then, though? PP - Can't wait to see you beat Plaw in the 2nd Half. Until someone proves otherwise, I fear only one man......
My MWA, DB.
DM? Did well this time. Lemme see him do it again. JG? Has yet to beat me in any segement of salary cap baseball, basketball, or football. I'm not worried. BB? Showed flashes. But still finished waaaay behind. SP? TM? Look me up when they play a whole season wihout any DNPs. PP? Don't make me laugh.

We ranked 329th in PAA To put the PAT vs Plaw matchup into perspective Plaw would have had to not played weeks 14,15 and 16 for Pat to have beaten him. I know Pat missed some days but there is no way he missed 18 edit: of FULLY MISSED DAYS He had 2, he had a few 20's and 30's scores but I believe he had some of those on days he played so maybe 4-5 missed days. Also in terms of "weekly finishes" in 16 weeks, the highest he got was 5th place- 3 times. To sum up- Pat, if I were you, I wouldn't be trash talking

Second Half Odds & Predictions
PL 1st Half Odds 2-1 1st Half Predicted Finish: 1st 1st Half Actual Finish: 1st Chased DB for most of the first half of the first half, then moved into first only to see DB regain the lead for six days in mid-January. But PL went back into first on January 21st, and held on the rest of the way. Has now won six of the last eight salary cap games in Baseball, Basketball, and Football, finishing second in the other two. Has to be considered a heavy favorite to win again, but his only two losses came in "second halves" of seasons (2003 Baseball, 2003-04 Basketball), and there seems to be someone else in the league now with the potential to contend (DM), plus a new player who is a totally unknown quantity (JL). So let's just say he's not as "heavy" a favorite as he was in the first half. Predicted Finish: 1st Odds: 11-5
DB 1st Half Odds: 5-2 1st Half Predicted Finish: 2nd 1st Half Actual Finish: 2nd Jumped out to any early 100+ point lead, but couldn't hold on. May have made a key strategy mistake by going unpredictable when trailing PL by only 40 points with six days left. Still, he's the only player to have beaten PL in Salary Cap Baseball or Basketball, both his wins came in "second halves", and here we are getting ready for another second half. And with second place finishes to his credit in the game just completed, as well as both halves of 2004 Baseball and the first half of 2003-2004 Basketball, he has to be considered the favorite to finish second once again. The thing is, though, like PL he's facing increasing competition from DM, so his odd probably need to go up a bit. Predicted Finish: 2nd Odds: 13-5
DM 1st Half Odds: 7-1 1st Half Predicted Finish: 5th 1st Half Actual Finish: 3rd Came out swinging from day one and even flirted with the lead for a few days. Settled comfortably into 3rd, and put JG away in the closing weeks. Demonstrated the main attribute for playing a daily salary cap game: The ability to not miss any days, and seemed to pick up on some of the finer strategy nuances as well. The "Big Three" is now a "Big Four", with only one question remaining: Is DM ready to take his game to the next level and contend with the "Big Two"? Predicted Finish: 3rd Odds: 9-2
JG 1st Half Odds: 6-1 1st Half Predicted Finish: 4th 1st Half Actual Finish: 4th Has a MWA of his own now, jeopardizing his perennial third place finishes. After spending weeks chasing DM for third, he actually passed him for one day and then totally collapsed. Still must be regarded with respect, though, since he plays every day, but there might be more pressure on him from those below than he can exert on those above. Predicted Finish: 4th Odds: 5-1
BB 1st Half Odds: 10-1 1st Half Predicted Finish: 6th 1st half Actual Finish: 5th Missed a few days early and never recovered. But, throw out just the first two weeks and over the last 14 weeks, he outscored JG by 17 points, so he has to be considered a threat for at least 4th place, and possibly 3rd. That assumes, of course, that he plays the second half. This game had to be more boring for him than anyone in history, being mired in 5th for virtually the entire season, with no chance at 4th, and no one threatening him from below. Predicted Finish: 5th Odds: 6-1
SP 1st Half Odds: 4-1 1st Half Predicted Finish: 3rd 1st Half Actual Finish: 6th Big first half disappointment. After vowing to beat JG, he missed days early and spent a good part of the season in the basement. But he rallied nicely in the closing weeks, made up almost 800 points on PP, and finished a solid 6th. Has potential, although he misses injuries and has to prove that he can go a whole season without DNPs. Until he does, it's hard to regard him as a serious contender. Predicted Finish: 6th Odds: 20-1
JL 1st Half Odds: Didn't play first half 1st Half Predicted Finish: N/A 1st Half Actual Finish: N/A Just Lou. Have to put him somewhere. Figuring that PP has no clue, and TM will miss his usual number of days, 7th place seems about right. But who knows? Strictly a guessing game trying to predict his finish. Predicted Finish: 7th Odds: 35-1
PP 1st Half Odds: 20-1 1st Half Predicted Finish: 7th 1st Half Actual Finish: 7th Is he kidding, or what? Still hasn't figured out the strategy (No, Pat, the idea of the game is not to see how many points you can score above your FBA), and misses days besides. Shows absolutely no potential whatsoever, and should probably stick to debating Don Cardi, who is PP's MWA. At least there he has a chance. The only reason PP is not being picked for the basement is that TM always misses a lot of days. Predicted Finish: 8th Odds: 50-1
TM 1st Half Odds: 50-1 1st Half Predicted Finish: 8th 1st Half Actual Finish: 8th Difficult to figure because of all those DNPs. Potentially, I'd guess he's as good or better a player as SP and PP, and perhaps even BB and JG. So if he plays every day, who knows? He could finish as high as 4th. But until he shows that he can play every day, it's impossible to pick him for anywhere but the basement. Predicted Finish: 9th Odds: 75-1

From The Department of Useless Statistics: Here's a chart that shows, on a daily basis, how many times each of us finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

From The Department Of Useless StatisticsI was interested in seeing how TM would have done had he not missed 30 days (out of 106). The best way I could figure out to estimate it was by throwing out everyone's scores (including TM's) on the days he missed. The results were interesting..... PL 8439
DM 8277
JG 8240
DB 8195
BB 7900
TM 7831
SP 7342
PP 6836 The "scrambling" of positions 2-4 means nothing, because we simply removed 30 "random" days from the totals. Who knows what we would have come up with if we removed every Tuesday and Friday or something, for example. All that matters for the purposes of this study is that TM did not outscore any of the top four on the days when we all played. But what is significant, I think, is that TM thoroughly outplayed SP and BB, and finished only 69 points behind BB for 5th place. Also, if you look at the chart in the post above this one, you will see that TM finished with the worst score in our group on 31 days. But, he had 30 DNPs, and finished with the worst score in the group on 28 of them, which means that he only had the worst score 3 times out of the 76 days he did play, a record which was bettered only by DB, DM, and JG. Of course, for this to be totally accurate, I'd have to add in points for the days that PP, SP, and BB missed, since they probably (at least SP and PP did) missed some of their days on days when TM didn't miss any of his (Altho there were some days where more TM and SP or PP had DNPs). I guess what I should do is tally up the scores on only the days when everyone played. Check that.....For the top 4 it wouldn't matter, since none of us missed any days. But for the bottom 4, it would be interesting to know who had the highest total score on days when they all played.
