It's official, the Pistons will face the Lakers in the NBA Finals. L.A. has homecourt advantage, so who will the championship and in how many games? Also, who will be the series MVP?

I voted for Lakers in 6 and Kobe for MVP, though I'll cheer my heart out to Detroit win (no matter in how many games) and Big Ben, Billups or Rip get MVP honors.

I have similar views as I picked L.A. in 5 but Shaq will take the MVP once again because if he can win the battle between him and Ben Wallace, then he deserves it. Detroit will sneak a win in during game 3 or 4, but itll probably be their only one.
If they somehow pull it off tho, itll be in 7 games and Richard Hamilton will win the MVP. Thats what im rootin for in my heart but i predicted with my heart last series and ended up being pretty wrong. Im pickin wit my head and sayin Lakers in 5.

I once again pick the Lakers to win it all in 6 games, since Detroit is coming off hot and the Lakers always manage to fall asleep for a bit in the middle of a series. The series can very likely be won in 5 games if the Lakers play up to their potential. No offense to the Pistons (who are a good team), but I cannot see any Eastern Conference team putting up much of a struggle against this Lakers team.

Kobe has been a force to be reckoned with, and always seems to do even better whenever he has a court hearing in Colorado on game day. He will determine the outcome of the games for LA. But don't be surprised if one of the bench players (ex: Rush, Fisher, Medvedenko) comes up big at some point.

Either way, this looks to be a great series. Go Lakers!

I give Detroit a real shot because of their defense.

If they can get one of the first two in LA, then 2 out of 3 at home, they could do it.

Logic tells me LA in 6, but my official prediction is Detroit in 6 or 7.

The thing that will be very interesting to see this series will be the matchups. The best offensive center in Shaq vs. the best defensive center in Wallce. Shaq wins this battle due to experiecne and size. Kobe vs. Rip. Kobe also wins this tho Hamilton will put up a good fight. Rasheed vs. Malone. Malone will play strong considering this will be his first finals appearance since Jordan and the Bulls broke his heart in '98, but Rasheed is younger and better now. Billups vs. Payton. Billups will take this easily as GP has not shown up at all in the playoffs except for one or two games and Billups steps it up when the games get bigger normally. They key is going to be the bench. If the Lakers get great support from Fisher, Rush, Medvedenko, and Fox, they will win it, but if they dont, Detroit has a great shot.

Hey Don

I know the Pistons won back-to-back titles in 89 and 90. I remember at least one was vs. the Lakers. Was the other and, if not, who was Detroit's opponent?

I just hope & pray the Lakers win. I don't care how many games it takes them, as long as they win. Let's do this for the BIG 5 b/c it's the last time they'll be together (Kobe, Shaq, Phil, Karl, and Gary!) GO LAKERS GO!!

[/b][/quote]The 1990 Finals were against Portland. I think they won the series in 5, and the last game was won with a jump shot by The Microwave.

Pistons in 6, should be Darko for MVP (THE greatest foreign player in the L), but I assume Ben, Sheed, or Rip...

Just out of curiosity, two people put other as their MVP choice and Im wondering who it was. IM guessin its Payton but dont know for sure. I let him off the list cuz he has been a non factor in the playoffs but if you think him or someone else is gonna be the series MVP, itd be interesting to see why.
