For me, it's Tecmo Super Bowl for the Sega Genesis by a mile. Amazing game, so fun to play.

The nostalgia is kicking in. I have to play this game again.

I'm with DVC on this one... Super Tecmo Bowl (on Nintendo).

My brother and I would play for hours. What was great about this game was that it was the first game that I had that truly kept track of season long statistics, which, for a numbers-hound like me, was a very entertaining facet to the game.

Actually, the original Tecmo Bowl for the NES was good.

My all time favorites though:

World Cup Soccer (NES)

RBI Baseball (NES)

World Series Baseball 1996 and Mike tyson's punch out.

I will never forget I was the Blue Jays in WSB 96, and I was 82-0 with Devon White and Joe Carter EACH having 105 hr's in 82 games, in the 83rd game I hit a homerun with Devon White and it said "1st homerun of the season" then I hit one with Carter and it said "1st homerun of the season" so I turned it off and never played it again

A lot of Punch Out fans on here. Count me as one...

Let's see if we all remember what each fighter's weaknesses were... I haven't played this game in years so I'm going off of memory. Let me start.

King Hippo - I remember that you punch him in the mouth, which stuns him, and you repeatedly jab him in the gut.

Glass Joe?

Bald Bull?

Yes.. ISS, or PES...Pro Evolution Soccer 5, you can't have played 'em if you're into Fifa games!

But The Best is the original Ping game on that old Atari with the control stick n the red button. (you know the one when you have to hit the blocks behind the other blocks wot hits the ball block)

That is a masterpiece it just doesn't get better than that!

Glass Joe: his weakness was punching him lol

Bald Bull: you boxed him until he did the "charging bull" then you hit him in the stomach and he was knocked out (though I think he got up)

Winning Eleven by far. been playing this game for years and it only gets better. there is not a better game to play 'versus' against one of your friends.

if you like EA's Fifa games, get a doctor man!

nowadays, though, all I play is NCAA 06 MVP Baseball.

That's cool there are so many NES games listed on here, especially Mike Tyson's Punchout! I have to say that is the best sports game I have ever played as well... maybe even best all around game, or at least the most fun.

To the poster who was asking about each boxers weakness'... what was Mike Tyson's weakness? It took so long to get to him, and once I did I'd get whooped so quick lol. Still a fun game though!

Ninja Gaiden.

Oh, nvm... It's not a sports game. Still, it's the best NES game I've ever played!

It's been such a long time, I've forgotten. For some reason, I remember that you have to avoid a barrage of uppercuts to mount a counter-attack. Anybody else remember?

You remember what was said when you were just about to finish off your opponent? "Left Right Left Left Body Blow KNOCK HIM OUT!"

Bald Bull. Wasn't he the guy who used to Charge at you? Didn't you have to let him charge you and duck quickly just as he threw his punch and then come up with a counter uppercut and then just pounce him till he went down? The key was to let him charge you and then duck and counterpunch.

Glass Joe. I think that you had to repeatedly hit him low and then when he dropped his arms to cover his body, you just wailed on his Jaw a few times and he was gone.

I wish that they made that game for PSP or PS2. A great classic.

My current favorite is PSP's MLB Showdown.

The wife just bought me NHL '07, but I haven't played it yet.

EDIT : Sorry DMC, I saw your reply AFTER I made this post.

Nintendo's new next-generation console (due out Nov. 19th), the Wii, has the capability to play every single game ever made for the original 8-bit NES all the way to the Nintendo GameCube. Many of these titles will be available to download for a nominal fee through Nintendo's Wii Channels.

So pretty soon, you'll be able to play all of the old classics on the new console!
