Can anyone tell me what type of game this will be?? Is it gonna be like Mafia, or will it be the same style as a GTA or True Crime: Streets of LA???

Barry, do a search for Godfather Game in the game section only. There is so much more information than probably any of us can remember or type lol

A quick recap would be it is like GTA you run around a map doing things, it has a memory so every action you take can come back to haunt you later on in the game. You will get missions to do from contacts but it is not like Mafia more like GTA

The Godfather will come out in Winter '06. I'll have my XBOX 360 by then.

It's coming out in March.

I actually saw a "trailer" to this in the cinema, of all places. It looks like a CGI remake of the film. Obviously, that is what is intended.

It is awfully freakin´ bad, GTA (even GTA 2) is better than Mafia, God shall save me of playing that game again.

This game will release in spring 2006.
PS3 en Nintendo Revolution btw, will release both in mid 2006 in Japan, end 2006 in the USA, and end-2006 / beginning-2007 in Europe. PS3 might be even slightly later.

There are over 300 business that you can go into and extort money from...
There aren't linear missions, like you don't do a mission and beat it in order to get to the next mission...You have a list of things to do so you could have like 7 things to do all at one time.....You can meet up with Clemenza and he can give you orders, you can go talk to the barbershop owner, you can go into other family's territories and hihjack their stuff....And as you go through the game you weeve in and out of the storyline of the movie....
Another cool feature is that when you are in another familys turf...the soldiers hanging around will tel you to get out of there and if you decide to engage them and pull out a gun and kill them a message will appear saying Vendetta level increase which means that next time you are in their turf they won't be so nice and try and hurt you, and if you continue to mess with them they will eventuaqlly come after you.. so every action you do in this game has consequences.......
This game is going to be like no other game we've played before........It's going to be one of a kind and I think that defintly is befitting considering it is The Godfather Game so it should be one of a kind...It's going to be GREAAAAAAAATTT

And will it be great for GF-fans? We here are very very familiar with the movies, and we will be even more dissapointed if this won't be as good as the high expectations we have. I think it won't be 'deep' enough for all of us GF-geeks.

Please, do not put words in my mouth. I never said this game will suck, I never said it won't be deep enough. Well, maybe I did it :p but that wasn't my intention. I really want this game to be mighty good. And no, I don't work at EA

What I meant was: IF it is a deep, quality game, will the average graphic-whores be satisfied? They expect much shooting, want to be a gangsta, but then they are introduced in the rich world of The Godfather.
The contrary can also be true: IF it is indeed more based on shooting, and not on all the subtle, clever things that made The GF a succes, what will all the hard-core gamers say, who are searching for quality in games.

And what for the Turnbull's among us, those who wake up, live and fall asleep with The GF. They may find a quality game, but that is meant for the people who've seen GF once. Those Turnbull's expected inside jokes, unraveling of the original story-line, that won't be there.

So I'm not saying it will be bad, I only think that it will be hard to appeal to everyone.
That is the case with every video-game, but I think this one in particular will be even harder, also cause of the small third group I mentioned, the GF-geeks.

This game is exactly what I could want in a game, from what I've seen and read. Sure, most of the time you'll be shooting people, but in so many different ways. Besides, they have only shown about two missions even though there will be countless things to do.

i will bet my heart and soul that this game will become legendary. it's the next grand theft auto.

Winter 2006, now?

First they said end 2005! Then march/half 2006! And now winter 2006! That's already one year retardation!

Now it's definitely not coming on present homeconsoles like xbox, only on PS3, Revolution, and 360, I think.

I would accept an delay from them I can wait even if it was going to come in January 2007!!!

It is coming out on XBOX, PS2, XBOX 360, PSP, and PS3, I haven't heard anyhthing about it coming out on Revolution, though.

Though the original release date was Chiristmas '05, but I can wait a few more months.

The official site says PS2, PSP, XB, X360. Nothing about PS3, or Revo.
PS3 will surely follow, and soon as the specs arrive, and the same is true for the Revolution (I HOPE!!!), since there is kind of ... nothing known about the Revo, except for the looks. :p

Another think: Don Andrew, what did you mean by winter 2006?
Are that the months december 2005 - march 2006, or are that the months december 2006 - march 2007?

Winter as in January-March '06, they (EA Games) said "Your visit with Don Corleone is slated for early 2006..." But also said they pushed it back until Winter '06. I would say no later than January-February that it is released.
