Since this game will be the only *official* NFL licensed game this year (which sucks for us ESPN/2K fans) and starting next year will have the full ESPN license, are you guys excited for 2006? I haven't played madden since 2000 for the N64. I stopped playing Madden because it seemed like if you threw the bomb, your reciever would have a better chance of coming up with it than if you used a strategic play. Pass intereference was never called on the AI, but always called on you. The running game was nonexistant because blocking sucked. Can someone who is a Madden fan give us a little insight on the improvements made to this series? I know I'm looking forward to football in general, so obviously I can't wait to play the latest game, especially with Willis McGahee and my Bills.

Well *Oldtimer*, much has changed...of sorts.
For one thing, the Franchise Mode has been improved considerably, which it can go the total 7 rounds of the NFL Draft, you can sign Restricted Free Agents, change uniforms/logo for your team, manage the organization and stadium as well. Not to mention you have to hire not just a Head Coach every few years, you have to hire/rehire Offensive/Defensive Coordinators, along with Special Teams Coordinator...and they can leave your team even still under contract with you to take a Head Coach position for another team. I mean I had Brett Favre as Offensive Coordinator after he was fired by the Seattle Seahawks as Head Coach following a Super Bowl-winning reign...then after my team wins a title, he leaves to coach the Texans.
MADDEN has improven considerably over the years, and MADDEN 2005 was pretty damn fun. Can't wait for 2006!

I'm I so old now? :p Will the new Buffalo Bills third jerseys (which look alot like the '67 old style) be in the game? If not, are you saying I could add the jersey, or modify the existing ones? that would be sweet!

Besides, even if Losman sucks, he still is better than Bledsoe. :p Bledsoe sucks, yes. But Losman hasn't played a down of football yet, so we just don't know yet. The Bills have enough clout to (in the words of Donald "Duck" Dunn) turn goat piss into gasoline.
Hey, how's it going?

As long as he can connect with short passes, and hand it to Willis, the offense will grow from there. I agree. I may be a Dolphins fan, but I'll be rooting for Willis. (I like my Canes better anyway...) Ahh, I still remember the game when he dropped 6 TD's on Virginia Tech. The Canes won, and i came out on National Television!!

is anyone really gonna use the vision codes? i see it as something that is a good idea but would be difficult to get used to...kind of like the 1st person view in the 2k games....i for one will maybe try it for a game or 2...if its not "easy" (meaning not frustrating) im gonna scrap it

Yes, I loved ESPN/2K but the first-person football...ugh. Good idea, bad execution. I'd never play a game like that.
I think the vision cones will be cool, but they could become frustrating if it means that your QB sucks simply because his cone is small. I hope it will add to the realism though, separating the "good" QB's from the "mediocre" ones. It now affects who you play as. It seems like before you could pick Vick, and then run across the field, and then throw to a guy opposite side, a perfect pass. It now adds more skill, and requires you to act like a real QB. I think it's a cool feature.

*story* So yes, I stayed up watching the Yanks pull off a close one (yes!) and the Bears/Dolphins clusterfuck of how-not-to-play-good-football. So by the time midnight was rolling around, I was tired. My buddy came to pick me up at about 11:30, and we went over to GameStop. The entire town is pretty much dead, at least in the area we were at. Pull around the corner... holy fuck! There is a line of about 200 people waiting to get into GameStop! So yeah, we turned around. I decided it was better to wait until this morning instead of getting mauled by a bunch of posers with bandanas and whatnot. It looked like a "wigger" convention. Anyways, I got the game this morning, and it's absolutely sick. Granted, I'm used to 2K, and frankly, it does some things better (passing game) and some things worse (running game, presentation) but it's really fun so far. Precision/vision cone is totally awesome! It is a really neat feature, I love it already! I'll post a full review when I have some more hours logged in. BTW - first game score - Bills 28, Packers 24.
