This is definately one of the best games I have ever played. I got as far as the mueseum, where you must kill Sam and his goons, until my brother broke it. Did I miss much?

SPOILER WARNING

once you kill Sam at the VERY END of the Museum (in the circle room where he pops up in the middle of the divides) you have to shoot him one more time and then he is almost dead and he is bleeding alot as he is walking to get out of the museum. Sam is on the second floor all bloody and Tom is on the top floor, they exchange words and Sam said Tom could never kill anyone, and then Tom shoots him.

It cuts to about 20 years later with TOM as an older man watering his lawn, 2 guys pull up in a car and ask if he is Tom, he says yes and they say "Don Salieri sends his regards" or something like that and then they kill him.

Powerful ending. I'm surprised Don Selieri lived that long. Does it say why didn't Tommy-Angelo kill the Don during the game?

Martin, it is a problem because Salieri would have been like 90 (not exactly but you get the idea) at the time so I think it's just a context error. As to why he didn't kill him I have no idea.

Not sure if this is actually just a context error like you said, but I always assumed that comment was just made just out of spite. My guess is that Salieri had long been dead, but in the tradition of mafia vengeance, the killers were instructed to remind Tom why they were killing him, so they said "Don Salieri sends his regards," as if he was getting his revenge from beyond the grave. But then again, I could just be reading into it too much .

I would assume that once Salieri found out Tom had killed Sam and knew that he had turned on him, he isolated himself and made it so Tom couldn't get to him.

reading this thread really makes me want to play that game again. Haven't touched it since I beat for the 2nd time about 6 months back. guess i'm a bit of an addict.

I got the PS2 version. Thank God I played the PC version first. The PS2 version is mediocre at best. I gotta say though, despite the problems experienced porting it over to PS2, the story kept me playing. One of the best stories in videogame history. It makes you actually feel like a mobster. I have very high hopes and expectations for The Godfather game. EA seems serious about this. They know that if they create something less than stellar, things could turn ugly.

Still think "The Harbour" is one of the finest levels of any game to date.

Took me a while to complete that particular one, but it's a damn fine game without a doubt.

Recently got a new PC so good excuse to start from the beginning again!

i bought a used copy over the holidays and cant beat the one were you have to steal the race car and take it to the guy to tune it. I drive without hitting anything and going at about 3/4 top speed at all times and the time limit passes.

then you are not following the right path. There is a shortcut through buildings- it's on the left side of the map.

T.M. go to http://www.mafia-game.com then on the bottom there is a forum. Go to the link and look for mafia-pc.
That is where the message board is, I haven't seen a "real new post" on there in about a year but there are TONS of Easter Eggs in the game, there is a post called "for your gaming pleasure" it's 9 pages of easter eggs. Check it out, it will bring a whole new life to the game.

Mafia 2 has been discussed, scheduled and scrapped more times than I can remember lol

I have the xbox version and the pc version. The xbox version is horrible, its like a ps1 game. The pc version is not much better but there were so many features they could have had. For one thing theres no cheats so you can't have any real fun. The detail on the buildings is crappy. I'm so glad for the GF game, it's about time a decent mafia game is coming out.

I can't wait to play it.

I woke up this morning with nothing to do and went to bed with only half of it done.

I'm a hugh fan of the game....I played the whole game for about 3 times now...it doesn't offer anything new thoug when you play it for a second/third time, but I really like the short-movies (They should have had a built-in videoplayer for the short-movies. That you can see the movies without playing the game...the Neverwinter Nights idea...once you unlocked the mission you have acces to all video's).

The part I liked most was the stuff with the Consiglieri on the airport...very emotional part ( NO I didn't cry but ok).

And the story of the game is very high. I still hope Mafia 2 is coming.

No. You pull a Henry Hill (except that youy stay in the witness protection program) and rat out Salieri and the family. Then about 20-25 years later some people come to kill Tom Angelo in Salieri's name.

Hey, how's it going?

Love this game! Found it new from Froogle for the low price of $10! Bought it immediately and played it, I was hooked for about a month. I beat it and I still have the game. I still replay it because of its nice blend of action with story, making it an A game.

I never finished 'Mafia' but I know how it ends. It's a pretty good game but extra's could have been added which would have made it so much better.
