I didn't like it when they killed Vito for being gay. Would that would happen in real life? I know it makes for good story, but I think they should have at least killed him more discreetly and not made it look so harshly that he was gay but using the pool cue up his. His kids suffer from that whom are innocent.

No, it was completely a crime of passion.

killing vito is probably going to be bad for business.

"The Sopranos" (to its credit) sometimes shows the victims of these wiseguys' actions. Its one of the things that helps make this show great.

That scene with Vito's son reading the newspaper article (to his sister) about his father's death was sad.

It was a message directed at Tony.

The killing of Vito truly was personal and NOT business. You are right this killing was a message to Tony that New York is in charge and NOT Jersey.

Perhaps the season ends with THE WAR finally erupting...and Tony and gang fighting for their survivor against Phil, who's finally basically taken over NYC.

The real message is. Phil's wife is calling the shots, not Phil.

I felt that Phil's wife was ragging him but he would have did it anyway as insult to tony, or cause he felt he had to do it, obviously Vito was going to die but it didn't have to be in such a manner, him just disappearing would have been good enough and proved the point. Phil has also shamed his own family too, in my opinion, and made things harder for all involved. I think there will be a war which is what's needs to happen I think.

I was unclear on whether Tony & Silvio knew about Vito's whereabouts and indirectly relayed that information to Phil or if Phil actually found out on his own merits.

It was personal both ways Phil wanted revenge for what Phil did to his cousin and he wanted it as a personal insult to Tony.

P.S. Phil hasn't taken over New York just the family Johnny ran rember there are five families not just one. Now if Phil has all NY families behind him then Tonys in trouble.
