after re-watching the 5th season im still not 100% sure why Tony compared Feech to Richie Aprile but i have a guess. when Tony noticed all his cronies laghing like idiots at all his not so funny jokes, he knew they did so out of fear. but when he remembers the card game he see's Feeches expression and Feech isnt laghing. so did he basically relize that Feech wasnt afraid of him and would probably make an attempt on his life?

Tony didn't compare Feech to Richie Aprile. Tony compared himself to Richie. You're right about Feech not laughing, Tony then sees him as a threat - he sees that Feech doesn't fear, and in mob terms, respect Tony. Because of this Tony is critical of himself and says something along the lines of Richie would have foreseen all this.

No, I dont remember him comparing himself to Richie. But I do remember him comparing the situation with Feech to the situation with Richie. After he met with Feech, who I believe had come to finally pay Tony money that he owed, Tony said something like, "Jesus Christ, did I learn nothing from Richie Aprile?" I believe he did sense that Feech might make a move because he couldnt come to grips with taking order s from a "kid" who he used to outrank. That is when Tony and Silvio thought up the plan to get his parole revoked.

Sorry, TURI, but GOODFELLA and NERI are completely correct in their assessments. Tony was comparing Feech LaManna to Richie Aprile. Both Richie and Feech were bitter ex-cons who couldn't get used to taking orders from Tony, who was, before they went away, just a "kid".

When Tony said, "Have I learned nothing from Richie Aprile?", he was saying that he had to nip the situation with Feech in the bud. He let the problems with Richie escalate, and it nearly resulted in Richie trying to kill Tony. Tony didn't want Feech, who commanded a lot of respect and was well-liked, to attempt anything with him.

Unlike the hated Richie, Feech was liked and respected enough to drum up some support within the Family to have made a move against Tony. Tony had to take care of Feech before things reached that point.

My bad absolutely. I confused Richie with Jackie Aprile for some reason. I'm slipping.

Robert Loggia was excellent in the role. Feech reminded me of my late Father, he had "BALLS."

It was a really odd plotline, and served little purpose but some early season tension. The actual reason Feech Lamanna was sent to jail was because actor Robert Loggia had too much trouble remembering his lines...so they wrote Feech out. Though that's a good move, as it would have been a tired repetition of Richie and possibly, Ralphie.
