We're all familiar with Pussy's appearance in the mirror in the episode "Proshai, Livushka" at Livia's wake. But a few minutes later in that same scene, when Janice calls everyone into the living room for a remembrance of Livia, while she is playing Livia's favorite song, you can see a man walk half way down the stairs, stop for a moment, and then walk back upstairs.

My dad thinks it was just someone who was hanging out upstairs, heard the music, came down to see what was going on, and then went back upstairs, not wanting to have any part in the silly gathering. But nobody would just wander around someone's upstairs by themselves. It's just not polite.

So, is it a ghost? Maybe Tony's father making sure his wife is dead?

Long time no see, Anthony! WB, dude!

In response to your question, I ask who that is everytime I watch that episode! Dunno, man, but it is kinda' spooky. I'm thinkin' it shows someone like that twice in that episode, but one of 'em looks like an old dude with glasses (but not Uncle June)....

Welcome back, man! Nice to see old fans of the show coming back (you too, Snake! )

With regard to your question, I posted the very same thing a long time ago. I think it's David Chase's excellent writing that included the guy. Nobody was feeling right that day, and maybe he put it in to make us a little edgy too.

Another solution is, like you implied, the guy had gone upstairs to take a leak, and when he returned he saw that Janice was making an awkward mess of everything, and so he decided to maybe just stay out of sight until Janice's ceremony was over and the coast was clear again.

Yes, a question I ponder everytime I watch it. All of your theories are good and well-thought out, but I think it's simply someone put in the scene who saw Janice's stupid send-off for Livia and retreated to wherever he came from so he could escape that crap! Or haha, he could have been robbing the Soprano house!

Yes, I've noticed him. I think it's just a family friend. And the guy in the Livia's wake episode is a younger guy and this one seems older after Jackie's funeral.

I dont know. To go so far as to say that the guy walking down the stairs is the ghost of Johnny Boy Soprano is kind of a stretch. Could be though.
