Has anyone seen any of this "full saturation" yet?? If so, please reply with where - thanks!

For you die-hard collectors, there will be full saturation in the U.S. this Fall and holiday seasons. Paramount says that "95% of all U.S. households will see The Godfather message ten times"! Keep an eye on the Fall issues of People, EW, Premiere, Playboy, SI, and TV Guide. Watch all major TV networks plus VH1, ESPN, E!, TBS, TNT (more in the big cities). Even bus side panels in the Top 6 Markets!

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

Nope, I haven't even been saturated once, let alone 10 times!

I expected the corporate people to "skim" the market first. Have a high price on the goods first and make the highest possible sales for a while until it shows it cannot make much more at that price. Then after that reduce the price to and average cost.

I don't think they ahve made much emphasis on this for the GF DVD collection. To me £50 (or I think $75) is quite reasonable.

The October issue of Premiere magazine has a 5-star review of the DVD Collection. There's also a sidebar entitled "The Tao of The Godfather" showing quotes from the films dealing with various topics such as war, history, family, politics, business and more. This is a must-have for collectors as it shows a color picture I've never seen before: Pacino and De Niro together during the filming of GF2! (This picture is in the table of contents).

Surprisingly there were no ads for the DVD Collection in EW (10/5) or People (10/8). There are items of interest in each though. In the latter, a short blurb about Carol Gino and Mario Puzo (no book review, though). In the former, a behind-the-scenes photo from The Godfather, scenes from Gangs of New York, and a behind-the-scenes photo from The Sopranos as part of a Hollywood photo gallery.

And while we're talking about magazines, the current (November) issue of Penthouse has an excert from Mario Puzo's The Family that came out today.

If anyone sees any other DVD Collection articles, reviews or ads anywhere, please post here!

Grazie,

JG

My mate that works at the local cinema has said that he's seen plenty of adverts for the DVD collection there. He's not a fan at all so he hasn't taken much notice of them. He thought it was out already because of all the ads.

I actually saw an add on TV on Sunday night. I don't remember the channel. It was a shot of the collection with the GF theme playing and the announcer saying it was being released on the 9th...
That's about it.

Weird.... Not five minutes after reading this thread, I'm watching The Amazing Race and on comes the first commercial for The Godfather DVD set that I've seen yet. Looks cool- I know where I'll be 9 October! smile

I was watching "Along Came a Spider" last Sunday night at my buddy's place and did see a trailer for the DVD set. Other than that i've only seen the commercial for it once. Of course I don't really watch all that much TV.

The only references I've heard or seen about The Godfather DVD Collection were in my local "Coconuts Music and Movie Store" where I heard an audio "comercial" for the DVD Collection and in the latest edition of the "Video Choice" catalogue, where it was listed as being available starting October 9th...that's it!

I saw a display card in the "G" section of the current DVD's in Sam Goody Record store with the add for the GF DVD set.
From what we've all seen it's not much of a "saturation", but then again if you don't know that it's coming then you must be living under a rock!

The look of real leather with the cost of cheap cardboard..wow isn't life grand! Look at it this way...they saved a lot of cows? And we pay under $75.00 or with real leather case $175.00

Right on Don Camillus. I agree we should save the cow and not kill them or exploit them or any other innocent living creature for food. Humans can live longer healthier lives by simply not consuming the flesh of animals. True fact ya'll check it out. smile

Maybe is used the wrong term (leatherette box).If any of you have the GF Epic 1902-1959
you know it comes packaged in a very stong
cardboard box that is textured to look like
leather.I know they can't package the collection in leather looking fabric. I hope
this clears up the confusion. wink eek

I saw the DVD commerical during Monday Night Football. It ran at least once, as the Super Bowl-bound St Louis Rams utterly demolished the hapless Detroit Lions 35-0!!
