Does anybody else find this a problem in the show. It is particularly bad in season four, which I am watching over here right now every Tuesday night. While it can increase the unpredictability of the show, it can make for some really boring "filler" episodes.

This is my main problem with the show. You'd be watching one episode, loving the story line and then hear nothing of it again. Whilst crappy Janice story lines carry on for weeks.

I have the impression the show is using a format of Tv Drama most notably used in 'Alley Mcbeal, The Practice, Law & Order". Whereby the hour long storyline is in itself the complete story with no part 2.

How dare you compare Alley Mcbeal, The Practice, snd Law & Order without coming to the result that those shows suck and Sopranos i not like them in the least. No im kidding, Ally McBeal is good.

While The Sopranos cannot be equalled by any other show IMO, I think you may have a point. Each episode now is simply a story in its own. Things are left at loose ends now and we come back to it when we have forgotten all about it and simply don't care anymore. Season 4 has been very guilty of this in particular. Season one had none of this. For example, the first four shows of the first season had an ongoing storyline, and then, after a brief break for the fantastic "College" episode, it was back on track. This is why Season one is, overall, my favourite series, and why season four is, while still being amazingly fantastic, simply not on a par with its three predecessors.

Yes, like in season one, whatever happened about that case with "Massive Genius"?

I think part of the problem with continuity in the early episodes was the need to introduce new characters--understandable, if not exactly easy on the viewer. But in the later seasons, I sensed some arrogance on Chase's part. He seemed to say, "Hey, I've got the most popular show on TV. I can afford to indulge myself without caring how it affects my ratings." Just look at the jerking-around we're getting on the much delayed opening of the next season.

You see, actually, I don't mind about these cases, as they tend to get wrapped up in the episode and it is inevitable what was going to happen--another such case was with Artie and the money-borrowing Frog-eater!

It's the other things which baffle me, such as the Russian in Pine Barrens, Raymond Curto and many more.
