on watchin the season 3 episode 2 i found that there are a lot new characters. ralphie i know turns out to be a rather important figure in the series but dont u think his intro is a little sudden? what relation is he to tony? is this the same ralphie who carmela sed had got a brazilian gumar pregnant in series 2?

Ralphie was suppossedly hiding out in Florida. He was part of the Aprile crew and came back when Richie went into the "Witness Protection Program." I don't know if he is the same one who got the dancer pregnant however.

"Sopranos" isn't big on continuity. David Chase said as much in several interviews--basically he says it's his prerogative to introduce new characters and themes, and then let them drift off somewhere. Remember the Russian Mafia subplot (including the guy who ran off into the Pine Barrens)? Whatever happened to them? And, at the end of this season, we were left waiting for the denouement of the FBI squeezing Adriana, and of Chris and his rehab.
