How would you feel about a spinoff series to the Sopranos, focusing on the earlier years?

Personally, I have really enjoyed Tony's flashbacks to his childhood. It was really interesting to see Johnny Boy and Uncle Junior in action especially getting money out of people. I would like to see more about how Johnny Boy and Junior became respected guys, got made and had their own crews. More details about the rivalry between the two brothers would be really interesting. It would also be good to see Tony making his bones, Jackie Aprile Snr, Silvio, Ralphie, Pussy in his days as a cat burglar and of course Paulie starting to whack guys thirty years ago!

How would you feel about this idea? Which characters would you like to see and what would you like to see them doing?

Personally, I was really impressed by the actors who played the young Johnny Boy and Junior. It would be good to see more of them.

Wiseguy!! Where the heck you been??? Nice to have you back!

Yea I would go for that. I always find the story behind the mob (so the speak) interesting. Like with the GF series, I wish they would reflect more on how Vito rose to the top. Same with Tony Soprano and group. I know I'd go see it if they made a movie of it.

I would love this. One thing I would be interested in is how Christopher's dad (Dickie Moltisanti) was really killed. It could have been at the hands of that cop, but it also could have been a sham.

I'd also like to see when Tony hops in bed with Charmaine Bucco back when they were in high school.

I am trying to gather ideas together for what a spin-off series or movie could focus on. I have put in a spoiler warning because our knowledge of Sopranos' history is inspired by the modern Sopranos, I personally have only seen the first 3 series so far.

SPOILER WARNING - SPOLIER WARNING - SPOILER WARNING

I would like to see how Paulie Gualteri got nicknamed Paulie 'Walnuts.' I am not sure how this happened. I read somewhere that one of his early hijacks was a truckload of micro-chips, except he hit the wrong truck and ended up with a load of walnuts. Did I imagine that? That would be a really funny story to see in action.

We could also get to see the famous card game of Viche(sp)LaMotta that Tony and Jackie Aprile Snr were supposed to have hijacked when they were young and led them on the fast track to getting made.

Johnny Boy Soprano was supposed to be the more charasmatic of the two Sopranos brothers, he was more respected by the Boss (old man De Meo) and Corrado Junior resented his kid brother's success. More info about that could be worked into a great storyline. As Johnny Boy's top adviser, Hesh Rabkin's main role would be to warn Johnny of Junior's latest half assed schemes.

Any more ideas folks? Little bits of info are dropped in the modern show about the past. We could try and give it some historical background by linking it to different RICO proceedings. In the background we could have the mafia in New York, the last days of Carlo Gambino, Castellano and the rise and fall of Gotti. It would be a good opportunity to show how the mafia have had to be more careful, and about how the Witness Protection Programme changed things with the emergence of rats.

I am not sure whether it would work best as a film or a tv show. If a longer historical period is covered it might be better to have a couple of short films, maybe the first could cover 1960 -1975 and the second 1975 - 1990 or so.

Any ideas would be interesting!!

Well to be honest I never really gave it much thought.

But now that someone has brought it up, that would be a cool idea.
