How did y'all get started watching this show? I remember hearing about it when it came out, but I never really paid attention to mafia movies at that time (I am a recent convert), and for some reason I thought it was more of a comedy (I couldn't take the show seriously because of the name).

About a year ago I really got into the Godfather, and a little bit after my local Best Buy was having a sale on box sets, so I took a chance and bought season 1 and 2 of the Sopranos. I've been a huge fan ever since.

How about you? Were a lot of you fans from the very beginning.

I have always been a fan of mafia/gangster movies. I had seen previews for the Sopranos and it did look like something I'd enjoy, but never watched it until about a year and a half ago. A friend at work rented the 1st season and said how good it was. I borrowed it from her and loved it immediately!! Then came season two, etc. and the rest is "history".

I've been a fan ever since it first came out. I can remember seeing previews for it. And I swear I can remember hearing during the previews Tony's 2 families, and I knew instantly what the one family was.

When it came out I was already very fascinated by mafia movies/and everything else about the mafia.

Leonard: I dont know. See, I have this condition.
Teddy: Well, I hope its not as serious as his, 'cos this guy's dead.

Well, after the initial "craze" hit the public, I was naturally intrigued. And already being a big mob-movie fan just whetted my appetite. So, one boring weekend, I went to Blockbuster. All that was in were the last two discs of season 1 (from Boca on). You'd think catching just the tail end of the season, one would be dissuaded or too confused...but not this cowboy! I immediately went out and bought the season 1 DVD set, and I've been a raging Sopranos-holic ever since!

I know what you mean Snake about getting 'hooked' on it. My friend's friend purchased season 1 and my friend gave the set to me to watch. I thought I'd watch maybe 1 tape a day......wrong!! I put one in after the other and watched the whole season within a 24 hour period. I couldn't help myself!!!! LOL

after finally giving my dads Godfather trilogy videos a watch I was immediately fascinated and started a mafia/gangster movie craze/obsession. That was only a few months back in the beggining of this year. I not only started watching many Mob flicks but got into the real-life mafia as well by researching on the net. My dad had been watching Sopranos since about the beggining I think so I finally took an hour out of every Sunday to give it a try and loved it and have been hooked ever since .

Welcome, Tony Soprano!
I've always been a big fan of gangster movies and books. Incredible buzz preceded the first season of "Sopranos," so I subscribed to HBO specifically to watch the series. Wasn't disappointed, to say the least! (For that matter, I bought my first VCR in September, 1983, because NBC was showing, for the first time on TV, the "Godfather Saga"--the spliced version of GF and II, with deleted scenes integrated.)

TIS: I can definitely relate, babe! Yesterday, me and my ol' lady finished up season 2, then watched the first 6 episodes of # 3 (about 9 hours straight)! Guess we oughta' get a life, huh? But it's like eatin' candy: after you see one, you just gotta' pop in another one!

I faintly remember hearing my friends talk about it when it first came on HBO. I didn't see any episodes until the first season came out on DVD. I've just finished watching all of Season 3....so it was no looking back for me.

I didn't start watching until Season 2. I got interested in it at first because the show is literally filmed in my backyard. I live in Bergen County NJ, and know all the locations they use. It didn't take long for me to get hooked, and purchase Season 1 on DVD. I now have all 3 Seasons on DVD.

I stumbled on a Season 2 episode when channel hopping. At the time I wasn't into the mafia at all and I found the episode, think it was - The Happy Wanderer - pretty confusing. But I remember pretty impressed by Richie threatening Davey Scatino. Really wished that I'd been in 'from the ground floor' at the time. So many characters to get used to and all the referring back to previous incidents.

Eventually bought the first two seasons. But I saw most of Season 3 on TV before the others so that is a bit fuzzy now. I think the Pine Barrens episode got me hooked, felt I had to find out more about that crazy dude Paulie!!!

How did I start watching? In front of the TV. :-)

Seriously, after getting into mob movies with Godfather and Goodfellas, I heard a lot about the TV show, so I rented the first disc from Netflix. I was hooked, so I rented the rest of the discs. Then I converted to Digital cable and got HBO right when the 3rd season repeat started. I kept HBO until the season was over, then cancelled. I re-subscribed on 9/15.

I was always a fan of the mafia genre but I didn't start watching the Sopranos until about midway through the second season. I knew it was one but just never got around to watching it. Suddenly I found myself, for various reasons-including my newborn son, home on Sunday evenings so it just grew on me.

I've only recentely started watching. Don't have HBO. I just rented The Complete First Season on DVD last week and I thought it ruled. I've watched all 13 episodes, now I just ogtta rent the other two Box Sets nad wait a LONG time before I can see Season Four, unless things with TV and all change of course. I've been interested in the mafia ever since I knew it existed, but The Godfather films really brought me into it. I don't really know why it took me so long to get into The Sopranos.

I saw the very first episode when it was first aired, granted only caught the second half of the show. I was hooked from then on. I have all three seasons on DVD. For comedy, M*A*S*H is the best show of all time (at least in the US). For drama/crime, this show beats all.
