I think certainly that G4 was a possibility up to the late 90s, but I think any chance of seeing it now is positively nill, (considering Coppola seems to not have directed a film in nearly ten years, and has shelved his epic, Megaolopis because studios don't like his ideas). And having Puzo - one of his chief collaboraters for the Trilogy - dead also might certainly rule a G4 out. (Plus on the DVD commentary on the credits for GF3, Coppola certainly reveals his reluctance to persue such a project without Puzo).

However, I think one day we may see it as television mini-series most likely without involvement from the films' chief creative people, or a bizarre effort like The Godfather Returns novel - a strange mixutre of both the novels and movies.

And the actors are aging. The longer they wait, the more make-up De Niro needs to play a 40-year old Vito...
How old is he now?

... definitely older then when a 40+ Marlon Brando played a 60 year old Don.

Brando was 50 when he played the roll, and Vito was 55-64.

Now, a 62 year old De Niro has to play a 40 - 55 old Vito

Good, one more remake we don't need. Really, Coppola's time seems to have passed period. He hasn't made a really good movie since Apocalypse Now.

GF III can be considered 'good'. It's not a bad movie, but compared to the other 2... you know.

Forty-seven, you mean.

Wow, looking at page 84 in The Godfather Legacy, you never really notice the age change in the film until you see the pictures back to back. To those who have the book, its the page with the four pictures of Marlon Brando. Picture 1 is the Don in his earliest scenes of filming. Pic 2 is the Don during Connie's wedding. The third pic is Vito in his oldest stages (think the porch scene with Mike near the end). And the fourth pic is Brando himself, after finishing his scenes in the film. The differences seem subtle in the film, but it's quite amazing looking at all the pictures on one page.

"Growing up my dad was like 'You have a great last name, Galifianakis. Galifianakis...begins with a gal...and ends with a kiss...' I'm like that's great dad, can we get it changed to 'Galifianafuck' please?" -- Zach Galifianakis

Marlon Brando , Actor Born: 3 April 1924 Birthplace: Omaha, ...

And because they shot the movie in 1971, you're completely right.

Ah, yes. I do rate it ***1/2, and I always overlook it when I think of Coppola. But aside that, nothing good since AN.

If history has taught us anything, its that any film can be resurrected. If the GF video game sells well then maybe Hollywood will see a few bucks to be made in a GFIV. The only certainty given the current film-making climate is that, barring a miracle, it will be utter rubbish.

In that case, I think Coppola will definitely produce, as he tends to be doing nowadays, but don't count on him directing.

Its never too late to do the GF4. When Sofie was killed 20 years passed until Michael died. So they can use that as flash backs. And they can show a story of how Garcia is running the family. We dont need to go back when Michael was in his twentys.Nothing really happened.
