I just finished watching the Godfather Part II for the second/third?? time and I am still kinda unsure about somethings that happen. At the beginning when Micheal is talking to the Senator in his office and Micheal makes it clear to him that his offer is "Nothing.." and then the Senator walks out smirking...why does Micheal(well at least I think it was Micheal) make it look like he killed the girl on the bed, I am missing how this ties in with the story (I'm probably sounding really dumb here ) And is the guy that rats mike out in the courtroom connected with the Senator? I think his name was Cicci?? When I was watching it those areas were still a bit cloudy to me and I was wondering if you could help please Thanks

Hey Debz there are no stupid questions!
Michael could get the license for $20,000 but the Senator wanted to "squeeze him" and he wanted a large bribe up front plus a cut of the action in the casino. Michael wanted to make it clear to the Senator who had the real power, so he told the Senator that not only would he not bribe him, but he raised the stakes by telling the Senator he would appreciate it if he (the Senator) picked up the tab personally. The Senator, not knowing who he was dealing with smirked and left. This ties into the prostitute scene because you will recall the Senator "blacked out" and he believed that he had somehow killed the prostitute, when in fact Neri did it on orders either from Michael or Tom Hagen or both. Hagen tells the Senator that no one will ever have to know about this ugly episode, that he will cover for him and that all thats left is his "friendship" with Michael Corleone. Later when they have the Senate hearings Geary excuses himself from the proceedings. But thats another topic.
"Io sono stanco, sono imbigliato, and I wan't everyone here to know, there ain't gonna be no trouble from me..Don Corleone..Cicc' a port!"
"I stood in the courtroom like a fool."
"I am Constanza: Lord of the idiots."
