I seen this program on history channel about MS13 or termed something like that. Does anyone know what kind of organized crime this is? The people on history channel were saying it is organized like the mafia.

MS 13 (not MX) is a huge Central American gang that's growing throughout the US. Read about them here:

its not organized like the mafia, this is more like a lable for thousand of cliquas in Central America and US. The Mara Salvatrucha (i would say that means, salvadorian gang), originated in LA. It was founded my Salvadorians to defend themselves against others (mexicans). Nowadays its international. 13 comes from the city code of LA, and is the gang code for the surtenos, generelly gangsters from southern calif/LA and the cities (in prison they are organised in la EME=the Mexican Mafia).

I had thought they were similiar to the crypts/bloods because of the way they were talking on the history channel program about initiations and all. I don't know too much about organized crime really. I mostly read about the mafia in the US, italian and american, and fictional stuff. I kinda figured I misspelled the name of them because until yesterday I had never heard of ms13. Thanks for the info.
