Gigante uses Salerno as front-boss. But, why would Salerno do something like that? So Gigante asked Salerno: "Would you be my front boss?" And Salerno answered: "Yes, of course! I'm going outside let everybody think that I'm the boss, and take the risk to go to jail for the rest of my life so that you can stay out of the spotlight for the FBI and have the REAL power"....

That just dont make sense...

And eventually Salerno did go to jail for the rest of his life BECAUSE he was the boss of the Genovese-family (which he wasn't) in the Commission-case and Gigante still lived in freedom...

Anthony Salerno made an oath. He pledged his allegiance to the Genovese Family and he was expected to do whatever he was ordered to do by his superiors. By acting as Boss of the Genovese Family, he simply showed that he was 100% loyal to the Genovese Family and it's members and I respect him for that.

Juventus, Vincent "The Chin" Gigante was the boss(and what a boss! A crazy and clever one in one mind!), whether if Salerno did or didn`t want to be the front boss, he had to do it, if he hadn`t done it, he would have never gone on time to the trial commission, or even arrested

You know what I mean, don`t you

I thought you told me they don`t deserve respect for any reason at all
Pappo, you need to learn to differenciate between discussing something in regards to within the mob life, and discussing something outside of the mob life.

I am sure that while Peter_Clemenza said "I respect him for that," he was talking within the parameters of being in the mob. It was, in his opinion, a respectful thing, if you are talking about doing something within the underworld and it's so called rules of honor.

Outside of thinking within the world of the mob, I am sure that Peter_Clemenza does not respect them as people. I think that he was talking in the context of one living within that life.

Salerno is to be respected for living up to his oath and following orders, but only looking at it from the point of veiw from within Mob life parameters.

Don Cardi cool

Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.

Don Cardi [/QB]
I don`t agree but I will let it go because this is not the right topic and a long long long discussion would come around crushing both of points of view each other(talking about some contraditions)
By the way, let`s forget it

Juventus, if there's one constant in human nature (Mafia or otherwise), it's that we should never underestimate a man's lust for power, respect and glory. Loyalty may have had something (maybe a lot) to do with Salerno's decision to front for Genovese. But I believe Raab makes clear that Salerno enjoyed all the trappings of power, money, respect and fear that went along with his position.
