Does anyone know how that works? How come we don't see this kind of hearing anymore? Can the mobsters refuse to show up since it's not like a court summon?
Ricky Roma: You are here to help us... does that seem clear to you? That's your job... To help us, not to fuck us up... to help those who are going out there to try to earn a living... You fairy! You company man!

Right on the money, SC. Plus, the subcommittees don't get much from mobsters who "take the Fifth" after each question. I'm no lawyer but I suspect if you were subpoenaed to appear before Congress you'd better go. [/QUOTE] Yes, if you're subpoenaed. Congressional committees and subcommittees don't have standing power to issue subpoenas--the full Congress must pass a bill specifically authorizing a committee or subcommittee to issue subpoenas.
