Here's a tough one.
Two members of the "Minneapolis Combination" in Oklahoma
at the time of their trial for involvement in the Urschel kidnapping.(they were laundering the ransom money) Their partner/boss/ co defendent was aquitted.(he flew the chief of police of Mpls to OK. as a character witness.)

I waited for a while to see if anyone responded, then I sort of lost track. Anyway, the answer is that the man many are led to believe is Salvatore Maranzano was really Salvatore Messina. He was a member of London's Messina Brothers gang. His photo was published in the Sunday People newspaper in 1950. John H. Davis, author of "Mafia Dynasty," included this photo in his book as Maranzano. Whether it was an intentional deception or a mistake I don't know. All attempts to contact him were unsuccessful.

Re the Maranzano photo

I did some double-checking and I did find that Jay Robert Nash had the photo in his Encyclopedia of Organized Crime, published in 1992. The Davis book was published in 1993 and as far as I know was the second to publish it. If you know of earlier sources I would appreciate the names as I have almost every Mafia book there is that has been published in English (and I have several Italian and German titles too). Regarding Nash, he was known to put out false information in order to catch plagiarists.

Don Cardi cool

Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.

I'm gonna guess that it's Giuseppi Doto (aka Joe Adonis) about to be deported. If so, pls. post another.

Nice easy one to get back on track..

The Mafia Is Not Primarily An Organisation Of Murderers.
First And Foremost,The Mafia Is Made Up Of Thieves.
It Is Driven By Greed And Controlled By Fear.

Between The Law And The Mafia, The Law Is Not The Most To Be Feared

"What if the Mafia were not an organization but a widespread Sicilian attitude of hostility towards the law?"

"Make Love Not War" John Lennon
