NY Times reported yesterday that Sammy Da Bull Gravano got 20 years after he pleaded guilty to buying 40,000 Ecstasy pills in Brooklyn (he still faces 16-21 years in Arizona for trafficking in the pills). Times reported that the once-powerful underboss "appeared slight, with a shaved head, pale pionk skin, dark blue prisonwear and bright orange espadrilles." When a reporter asked him how he felt about the sentence, he replied, "How do you think?" His reaction to the judge: "Thank God she couldn't give me more [years in jail]." The article also noted that Da Bull's original lawyer was taken off the case after being indicted for helping one of her clients, "an imprisoned Egyptian sheikh, run a terrorist operation." Guy knows how to pick 'em, doesn't he?

Obviously he's not very smart is he? but like you said TIS once you're in, you're in for life. Like Micheal said, " Just when I thought I was out they pull me back in."  Just about all these gangsters know nothing other than to live a life of crime. It does make you wonder how strong the mafia is in today's day and age. Some 'crims' just dont know anything other than the life of crime they lived and loved. I think Gravano was one of these, I reckon he would rather do time in jail than be an 'average Joe'. Maybe the prison psychology lessons can sort him out :-)
