I was just wondering if anyone knew whatever happened to the REAL SAm Rothstein, the character Robert DeNiro played in "Casino"? I remember seeing an interview with him when the movie came out but nothing since then, is he even still alive?

The real-life model for Ace Rothstein was Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal. You'll find his website at http://www.frankleftyrosenthal.com. Big ego, to say the least--you'll find DeNiro's photo next to his.

It kind of was bad wasn't it. I thought Sharon Stone and James Woods did pretty good in it tho. ButJoe Pesci came off as kind of campy but DeNiro shined as usual.

The first time I watched the movie I started watching at the wedding scene. I absloutly loved it...but than when i rented it and watched it with my boyfriend from the beginning i wasn't as impressed. It was a tad boring for the first hour...but overall a great film still.

BTW: Oscar Goodman, Lefty's lawyer, who played himself in "Casino," is now the Mayor of Las Vegas. Goodman also defended Anthony (The Ant) Spolotro, the model for Nicky in "Casino."

Hi,
Joe Pesci wasn't campy. He made the movie what it was:GREAT. Pesci can play wiseguys to a tea. It was rumored that he was going to play Sammy(The Bull)Gravano.

I think he'd be PERFECT to play Sammy "The Bull" Gravano!

I joined his board and sent him a PM. He did reply but didn't really say anything outside of Joe Pesci and Robert DeNiro are good actors.

I thought De Niro's acting in Casino was really, really good. Now, as a movie, I thought Casino was OK, maybe good at best. It had its moments, and I think we can all agree on that. It is worth seeing.

I agree with your review, neat. DeNiro's performacne was his best in years. The film lacked the nonstop action and mordant humor of "Goodfellas." But it provided a rich, detailed look at Mob influence in Vegas. Well worth its three hours.

There must be something said about a movie that shows you a guys eyeball being popped out when a guy twists a vice so tight on your head that the pressure inside just pops the old boy out!

I will never forget the feelings that went thru my mind, when I watched Nicky and his brothet get beaten to near death with a couple of baseball bats...watch that and then think how it would fell if it was your brother and then knowing that you were next.....slow and painfull. OUCH!

also shows you that when real trouble comes down the road, that people get whacked just to make a break in the chain...." Why take chances"- RENO

what they did to Nicky(Anthony Spilotro) and his brother happened in real life. but not using baseball bats in beating them, they used guns . . .

I loved Casino its one of my favorite movies. I love the part where Nicky is warning Ace out in the desert. I thought that part where nicky put that guys head in a vice was sweet.

Leonard: I dont know. See, I have this condition.
Teddy: Well, I hope its not as serious as his, 'cos this guy's dead.

Casino is one of my favorites. I think Pesci's performance, along with De Niro's, were awesome.

I think it's fucking hilarious and I always crack up at the scene where Nicky is demanding his money at the Casino, when Nicky insults the card dealer, and beats the fuck out of Lester(Don Rickles) with the phone! PRICELESS!

Hi,
I LOVED the movie. IMHO Goodfellas should have been longer and had more Pesci in it. Casino was AWESOME. I lloved the scenes with Nicky in them. The most memorable are:

1)Nicky and Charlie the banker. "Go get my money or I will put your brain to sleep."

2)Nicky beating the crap out of the guy who cursed at Sam and also called him a *** . "You told my friend to go and f himself. You called him a *** . You dumb hick you better pray he lets you back in there."

3) The desert scene. "You said I brought heat on you. Get this through your head you Jew M**********R You better get your own army."

LOL, that part with the guy who put his feet on the table was priceless. Then Nicky beat him with the phone, LOL. Just how Joe Pesci did it was priceless, the look in his eyes.
