Anthony "Tony" Mirra was born July 18, 1927 and raised in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. He was an Italian-American mobster, soldier and later caporegime for the Bonanno crime family. He is well known for being the individual to introduce FBI Special Agent Joseph "Donnie Brasco" Pistone into the Bonanno family.

Does anyone have a better quality photo of Mirra dead in his car?..... The one at the end of this clip is hard to see.

Really enjoy these bio vids. Only complaint is that I wish they were a little longer, especially the Gaggi one.

I am so sorry my friend. There isn't a pic of Tony Mirra in the car. I just needed some type of visual, so I used that one. In fact, there are only 3 known photos of Mirra out there. I had to keep using the same pic over and over.

Thanks iceman999. I've been trying to keep them around the 10 minute mark on purpose. I only have so much free time each week and I am doing them for fun.

Joe pistone along with his writer created various characters and played on it. U have the calm but powerful Sonny black, a pathetic left two guns and the ever crazy Mirra

You'll find in every realty tv show, movie and yes even supposedly "true crime" books they all follow the same formula

So Mirra carried a knife? Big deal, I used to always carry a weapon too. Come to london all the street kids have big blades and are more than willing to use it

I don't blame him, when your in that business it's not a great idea to divulge personal information to fellow criminals (especially an FBI agent who probably asked one too many times)

Mirra's always in a beef with someone- well sure, why not. You'll find most mob guys are always in a beef with one another over stupid things/ we 're not exactly dealing with reasonable people are we

He told a woman to fuk off when she made a complaint at his club- again so what. I've worked in on the doors and drunk people 4 am in the morning aren't the best of humans

As u can see all these lil stories were designed to make Mirra look like a complete maniac thanks partly to Donnie Brasco who still walks around wearing those shades laughing at everyone buying his book and watching the tv shows

It's all part of the act and these characters are the co-stars

Mirra was an unpredictable psychopath. You can't have people that volatile in such an organization that puts order above all.

I get what you mean, and sure there were exaggerations to help boost sales and make the story more interesting, but Pistone is pretty much telling the truth. His book is generally seen in a favorable light and most people agree that it's a must-read for everybody interested in Organized crime.

And how do u know he's telling the truth? He's still claiming there's a $$$$ hit on him. He's so scared he's walking around New York with sun glasses with a film crew

I admit it was one of the best books I've read but that doesn't mean we have to believe everything he says

Him and his writer did such a good job on the characters we're still
discussing 'how crazy Mirra was" 20 yrs later based on Pistone's word alone
