The Columbos died with Wild Bill. Why? Wasn't he just a puppet of Orena's? Bill from 11th ave was a major player in his own right.

Orena was a good choice popular with the majority of the borgata and a major player as well, the real problem was/is the Persicos and their refusal to ever relinquish power. If it wasnt for Scarpa Sr and his double dealing as a rat and a hitter they would have lost. The Orena's had the backing of over half the family, the Persicos had Scarpa Sr, young druggies like John Pappa, Carmine Sessa, and a few others.

The Columbos died with Wild Bill. Why? Wasn't he just a puppet of Orena's? He was the last of a dying breed IMO. He was a big time earner, maybe the biggest they had. He knew how to squeeze cash from every situation. He was also a genuine tough guy with hitters all around him. He was feared but more importantly he was respected. He had it all and that's why he's dead. The guys at the top knew that he would own that family someday so they eliminated him. When I say he would have owned that family I don't mean like how Gotti bull rushed his way to the top, I mean that he was a natural leader and those around him would have pushed him there eventually.

I think most people are unaware of the full extent of the Colombo carnage, which goes far beyond the recognized "wars"... lots of lesser known and mysterious but strongly suspected inter-Columbo hits in the late '70s, early '80s... so many that they're not in books I'm aware of, you have to know of them personally, have OC sources in NYPD and/or closely review NYC crime reporting and interpolate from their fragmented and sometimes half-wrong NYPD sources...
In any event, I think it'd be difficult to say who was the more wantonly destructive boss, Carmine P. or Gotti... might have to go with Carmine since he's had so much longer to fuck things up for no reason but his own glorification.
Allie Boy P. on the lam all those years is it's own hell of a story.
I would like to know these supposed other "Mysterious" hits that are not documented that you know of? Sounds like pure fantasy on your end, partner. P.S. You misspelled Colombo, Genius.

Why does the FBI have such a vendetta with that family? Thanks in advance guys. Hope you all enjoyed your thanksgiving. 1. Their war caused too many dead bodies on the street (including civilians. The FBI had to come down hard on them. 2. Because of this, there are so many rats in the family that prosecuting them is relatively easy (Gioeli and Guerra aside). They've become so unstable, everyone wants to jump ship when arrested.
