From the indictment of his son it seems senior still has an ear to the street and involvements in scams, I can't remember precisely what his involvement was but I know he had something to do with that Firstplus financial group shakedown.
Given that he would of made Ligambi into the family, and him being a soldier under Scarfo, do you think Scarfo snr ever got word out to Ligambi on matters? Not to call shots but advice or such like?
Also any other Scarfo guys on the street, do you think any contact has ever been made?
Another thing: Did Scarfo not carry enough weight on the street in 1989 to avenge his son's shooting? I thought maybe he could of reached out to NY to sort it out. I know he got his son moved to the Lucchese's but I would of thought a guy like Scarfo would of wanted Merlino dead.

I read about him being involved in the money scam with his son, it really kind of baffles me regarding that because what power can this guy really have, he will never be outside the walls until he dies and most of his people are in prison or dead, I am guessing that GA would have the most info on whether senior is calling any shots or has any juice left. Maybe he is getting the money and using it inside for his legal expoenses to get an easier prison or an area of the country he wants to be in or maybe he needs $$ to hire investigators to find Leonetti so he can whack him

from what i remember about scarfo when he would come to south philly to visit from the shore you didnt even want to look at him the wrong way. alot of people including some of his guys family were happy to see him not in charge anymore. like cancer they were happy he was gone

I've read similar accounts. Scarfo seemed to be prone to jealousy. Even if he liked you, the day would eventually come where he resented your popularity or your money. Then it was only a matter of time.

Are scarfo and amuso still in the same prison. I doubt he has much juice left, I mean how many cans of tuna can that guy eat

Serp, why do you think Scarfo didn't make Nicky Jr before he got sent away? Always wondered about that. He had to ask Amuso to make him later. Too young? No hit notches on his belt?

He was to young...not a joke, he was not ready, that was dad and phil thinking ,but he was pushing ,just about each day,but if nicky sr did not have to go crazy it would have happened. sooner then later .

He was in my office asking me a question 3 weeks before this last pinch.He was with a family member and seamed preoccupied more then usual. He wanted to go to Juliano's that night so i guess it was not that bad,or he could have herd he was going to get pinched.

faffy is kind of goofy looking, looks kinda like hed be baking pizzas all day with some zips, certinatly nobody i would of tangled with, probably whacked a few gooks in a nam, than whacked a few greaseballs in south philly his resume is impressive.

I'm not sure that Scarfo ever made Ligambi,the Frankie Flowers hit notwithstanding.Ligambi was very close to Chuckie Merlino and I've read that right around the time Scarfo was gonna make him,he held off because he'd turned on the Merlino brothers by then and felt that Ligambi was too close to/loyal to them.There was no follow-up discussion of this in any other books/articles I've read,but Phil Leonetti does speak highly of Joe Ligambi in his book,so I guess it's possible.If not,someone must've made it official sometime after the reign of the despotic dwarf.

Scoops was caught on the Nicky skins tapes saying him and Joe Ligambi were straightened out at the same ceremony and scoops was made by scarfo so uncle joe was definitely made by Nicky

i dont think scarfo turned on chuckie in 85? did he? i thought this was later because leonetti didnt become underboss in 85

It was at the '85 Christmas Party that Scarfo turned on Chuckie Merlino.Shortly after Christmas '85 he met with Genovese higher-ups to seek their blessing on installing his nephew as Underboss.As I stated in my original posting,I wasn't sure,but apparently the Nicky Skins tapes confirmed that Scarfo did preside at Ligambi's ceremony.I can't remember which of the books about Philly I was reading where it was said that Scarfo was gonna hold off for a while.Leonetti also mentions in his book that Ligambi and Scarfo were cellmates for a time when they were all on trial.I just wasn't sure if Ligambi was made in '85/'86 or when he came home in the 90's.
