Always good. He was the only reason to watch "The Last Don."

Danny Aiello RIP
[Linked Image]

So far, none of the media coverage I have seen mentions his role in the The Professional.

I guess Cher, Madonna, & Spike Lee pull more weight with their writers.

One of my favorite Aiello films is a 1991 movie titled 29th Street. It basically tells the story of Frank Pesce, a shiftless slacker who is blessed with incredible luck. Aiello plays his father ,who can't catch a break to save his life. Along the way we run into a Mob loanshark with his own graveyard,a failed stolen car insurance scam,Aiello's obsession with his "lawn" (a 10x10 ft patch) and a tapestry of typical New York characters. All of this during a journey that sees Frank enroute to becoming the first winner of the New York State Lottery. If you haven't already,do yourself a favor and check it out.

My favorite Aiello film. But check out the dvd with the commentary, Lou. Pesce didn't actually win. But he was a finalist.

Showing my age. Last time I saw it was on VHS. If you have the ability to freeze frames, during the scene where Aiello cries out to his son "I''m not a loser", you can see his upper denture plate pop out. It is an extremely brief moment and the editors did a beautiful job,but it's there.

It’s one of my favorite movies too. Surprised it does not get a lot of attention. Fantastic film with great life lessons.
