Didn’t Castellano also make a deal with the Westies, Coonan or Featherstone where one was starting to act the part of a Wiseguy. Ended up with murder of some dude in Hells Kitchen for Gambinos under Castellano, construction related if I am correct.

If so, the guy had some amazing leadership skills, getting other groups, specifically Irish to work with his family. Imagine if he had the blessing from the Commission to use those skills nation wide to build partnerships, like Joint Ventures.

Any other Don have that skills set, Rizzuto, any others??

In Sicily, women are more dangerous than the shotgun.

I never understood why the Eppolito's would think Paul would go along with them taking out Nino and Roy and on top of that, they pick those two up in the car on the way to the bogus "sit down" at the Gemini Lounge no less? Wouldn't just telling Paul they got ripped off some drug deal sign their death warrant? Also, I remember reading that Louis Eppolito identiying the bodies in the morgue.....

Quote
The crime scene was investigated by corrupt NYPD detective Louis Eppolito, and he describes what he saw in his autobiography:

"It was difficult, but I went over to the sheets they had spread over two bodies. I read the two toe tags. The first read 'James Eppolito, Jr.' When I pulled back the sheet, Jim-Jim's head was a mess. It was nothing I hadn't seen before in twelve years on the job. But all that blood, and Jim-Jim's brain blasted away, it really upset me."

"Then I went to the old man. I don't know how I managed to pull his sheet away, but I did. Uncle Jimmy's face was just absolutely destroyed. His jaw and bottom lip were totally gone, torn off, giving him this long, buck-toothed look."

"And he had tattoos - the gunpowder marks that are left when you're shot at close range - all over what was left of his head. I cleaned him as best I could, combing his hair and washing the blood off his face. But water kept pouring out of his eyes, like he was crying."

No telling what was in their minds, but they must have figured killing Nino and Roy was their best chance for survival. When they didn't get permission, they probably decided going to a sitdown was their only hope. They would have been better off trying to run away.

Not trying to make a joke at all, but that must have been a uncomfortable ride in terms of the size of those guys. Forget all the tension in that car, but if I remember correct there were guys in the car. I forget who was sitting where but 5 grown men in any car is awful. The guy that went to ease the Eppolito's fears was a fat older man, Roy was a big guy. I can't believe there were 3 in the back seat, 2 in the front... U guys know what kind of car they were all in?

I think Nino was the driver because I remember both of Nino & Roy we’re giving each other signal so Roy was in the back, he sat with Petey 17 between himself, and James Eppolito Jr. SR was riding shotgun, if I’m not mistaken.

Peter Piacenti was the other guy in the car. He had no idea what was gonna happen so I’m sure that was uncomfortable and scary as hell lol

He was basically use as a bait, 17 & Eppolito SR were long time friends. So that way Eppolito would be calmer & lower his guard when meeting with Lethal hitman like Roy & Nino

Eppolito Sr. has a feeling something was wrong and said he had to pee, and said pull the car over I think. God I would love to have been able to hear what the conversation was like in that car. I have read a bunch of mob books, and that scenario with these 5 guys packed in a car amazes me. Nevermind everything that happened after that. Roy went back and got the gun and shot a bullet into water and retrieved, and smuggled it into the hospital. It was part of some crazy shit they came up with to get him off, but it didn't work. Those guys were nuts, I am going to read that book again. I loved it.

Nino looked like a tough guy in the 50s very muscular but in the 70s/80s he looks pale and skinny, the first thought comes to mind - backstabbing weasel.
