So far there's one source stating that Dick Dale, ‘King of the Surf Guitar’ Passes Away at 82 -- he would play the Jersey Shore area quite often, but I never got around to seeing him....

Just a tidbit: Speaking of Meadowlark Lemon, the Harlem Globetrotters came to the Middle School I was working at and gave a performance for the school (long time ago. Can't remember the year. I'm not a sports fan by any stretch, but they were very entertaining and I think everyone enjoyed it.
