Definitely the Genovese family: they financied a coke ring with the ndrangheta that operate out the Cucino a modo mio pizzeria in Astoria for 12 milion a year,same thing for a Pot ring that made 3 milion a year.
12 mill a year is much money but compared to what the cartels are making it must be peanuts right?
That's just an operation that got busted. There's probably more where that came from.
Anyway, the cartels are reputed to make at least $500 million each year from drug trafficking. I don't think any of the Five Families get even remotely close to that number when it comes to the drug trade.
I echo the sentiment of several others that, in terms of financing, the Genovese might actually take the cake. The Bonannos and to a slightly lesser extent the Gambinos were always more involved in a "heads on" way though.
