It comes as no surprise that Gilliam tried to get a version of this off the ground in the '90s, because this feels at times like Fear and Loathing, with throwaway, episodic scenes comprising an unsatisfactory plot; these scenes, involving hallucinations and drug trips, have self-contained humour but seem to add little to the overall impact of the film, and you must still question if the animation enhances or distracts. The scramble suits are simply annoying.
