I'm not seeing anything offensive above other than maybe a complaint. Is complaining now a violation of board rules? Seriously SC, you are starting to act like a power hungry dictator. If someone complains, you ban them. The truth is, Oak and Cookcounty both make inflammatory comments on an almost daily basis that many of the current (and former, thanks to your banning) members find extremely unsettling.

I suspect that since you don't find what Oak and Cook say offensive (because they are aligned with you politically) you don't know act as quickly to punish them. The truth is I could go through this thread and find very inflammatory comments made by those two within the last week. If you would like me to do so, please let me know and I will oblige.

If you ban me for this comment I won't be surprised. If you want to run a board in which the opinions given are monolithic, that is your privilege, but it doesn't make it right. If not, I would suggest, if possible, you re-think your banning of Aces.

dom, there is a lot more than meets the eye with Aces/Belmont and I'm not gonna get into it now or here. But I can say that "their" suspension is well within board policy about arguing a moderator's decision in public. "They" are not long for these boards.

I can say without fear of being proved wrong that my own political beliefs have absolutely no bearing on any rulings I have made here. While I don't like Donald Trump I have little use for ANY politicians, Democrat or Republican. IMO they're ALL crooks. That being said I again state that NOBODY was ever suspended for speaking their views supporting a particular politician. The one thing I cannot stand is a member flaming someone else over these views. Nobody here is perfect, and I'm sure as hell not perfect. There is a chance I've missed a flaming post or two (it's virtually impossible to read every single message here). If you think I've missed a flaming post made by an individual please bring it to my attention, but keep political views out of it. The only way around this completely is to disallow any political discussions at all on the GBB (and quite frankly I'm in favor of that).

That's the problem with political discussions on a message board. Someone will post a point of view that others don't agree with and they find it inflammatory when the OP tries to defend his position. I'm not talking about these kinds of posts. I'm talking about posts that make an actual personal attack against a member. One in which someone is called names or worse.

Regardless, when one member posts his or her viewpoint and others disagree with the view words are exchanged and that inevitably leads to hard feelings. If we can't be civil in accepting each other's views we're all headed to a big fight. And those are hard to avoid. For that very reason I'd love to see political debates banned here on the GBB. Maybe one day Geoff will agree.

Until then any flamings (those of the personal nature) will result in suspensions or even banishments. There is no use arguing this. If you wanna talk politics here be prepared to grow a thick skin and be ready to bite your tongue. You all have my blessing as long as you remain civil.
