Its only a big blow to OC if you can place an online bet. OC had the convenience factor by just placing a bet from your living room opposed to going to an actual casino. Also, with a casino, you place your money upfront opposed to OC where they spot the bet to you.
All in all, i can see this hurting OC especially since they dont really have many rackets left. Its a great decision and there is no way the bargata will fuck this up or anyone else. This will be very interesting.

Legalized betting, whether casinos, off track horse betting, slots, etc., has never really dented the Mob. Degenerate gamblers need loans, which they can't get from the legal outlets, and the Mob's major source of gambling money comes not from the odds favoring the house, but from vig on loans to gamblers.

lol no nail, NY is still a long way from legalizing it fully. The Feds simply have lifted the ban. The State government will have to adopt a whole new set of plans and rules governing sports betting. Del Lago already offers it in limited capacity. No betting on College sports as well even after pro sports is legalized

Same here in AZ. Some people here think it's going to lift taxpayers' burdens. Yeah, sure--we have Indian casinos all over the state and they contribute a grand total of $80 million in taxes.

I am afraid you could be right. Gambling is more complex and more multifaceted than say drugs or alcohol. Having gambling legal may actually wind up helping organized crime in some aspects. For one, it will be much harder to build conspiracy cases against them. I wouldn't be surprised if there are federal investigators out there who view this decision as a blow to the feds.

I think it will hurt OC, especially when it comes to the novice gamblers who don't want to deal with shady characters. I don't think it's a death sentence though, the degenerate gamblers are still going to need credit to bet. It could even help. You will have those novices that are sucked in, lose everything, and have to turn to OC books. It will be similar to how people got hooked by the Doctors with pain meds and had to eventually turn to street drugs when that ship sailed.
