No.
You can be a good earner and have associates and then get your own crew

You have a lot of soldiers with money making crews but thier not capos

Yes of course but you also need leadership abilities and also you need the boss to trust you enough in order to give you that promotion.

I believe that families have a set number if capo's and no matter how well you do you will never get your own crew

If you pluck a soldier from a capo and give him his own crew, wouldn't his former capo be mad because of the lost income?

yeah i was wondering about that myself because if you also transfer his associates from his crew to his soldier(now capo) new crew then how the capo will react about the money he lost ?
or maybe he gets like 10% every week ?

For example, philly have 4 crews, 2 in South Philly, 1 in South Jersey and 1 in Newark...Carducci and punjitore have crews but thier not capo's, I'm sure they can use a capo in Atlantic city but thier content with not having one

One way you can pull it off is through sit downs. The smart thing to do would be to have sit downs and discuss it with the capo who is losing guys and the new capo who is receiving soldiers under him.

Make sure everyone is happy with the new arrangement and stop any beefs before they get out of control.

Maybe a capo has a soldier and although he may be a good earner he causes lots of headaches for the capo and he won't mind to see him in another crew.

Maybe losing a soldier to another crew opens up a spot for someone more favorable to the capo.

I don't have any examples but I'm sure there are times when those things have happened.

I would think the bosses would make sure that everyone is happy or you're going to have problems.

Unless the bosses are trying to weaken a captain because of a perceived threat then I don't think the bosses would strip a capo of his guys without making up for it another way.

The way I interpret it, Michael Franzese says he was made a captain and didn't take over anyone's crew. He recruited new people and had others assigned to him.

Jimmy Fratianno was made a captain of newly made members.

I think theres a bunch of threads on springfield genovese crew. A big crew in charge of ct and western mass. The bosses in the bronx okayd the capos murder never made another capo incharge up here. But had the members pay rent or tribute to members in the bronx.

I just read an article that shed more light on this topic. George fresolone, a associate in Philly's Newark faction was made a soldier in a ceremony including beeps and Nicky O. Shortly after fresolone was made he was quickly promoted to capo and the guys that got made with him was put in his crew... apparently philly had 2 capo's in Newark at this time

Demeo was never capo. He was a soldier who had a bunch of associates. The twins didn't get made until after his death.

He probably made more money than most capos though.
