Speaking for myself, when I've thought of suicide it has often been contemplated as a violent act towards someone else turned inward.

I'm sure that's pretty common. People will do the most drastic of impulsive things to prove a point to somebody.

Yeah. I've heard that a lot of people who've attempted suicide immediately regretted it after commencing the act, particularly several people who survived a jump off the Golden Gate.
