Binnie, the rank and file is going with Trump, and the GOP establishment will too. They are just pretending to dislike Trump so as to not scare the Hispanic vote over to the Democrat side. The Republican establishment is imagining that they will be able to pass all sorts of draconian laws once Trump is in, but they would be wrong about that.

I agree with you. I think, as usual, there is a bit of political tightrope walking.I think part of it is based on the future hispanic vote.....the rest is based on....when this Trump phase goes away.....politicians want to be able to say that they were on the record as opposing Trump.

Some of the hispanic immigrants here had no intention of staying here permanently. Just came here to work, send money back home to support families. Many had no intention of assimilating or establishing careers. You are right though! Any immigrant who comes here, for any amount of time...your options are limited by the amount of English you speak..PERIOD. Forward thinking immigrants will always try to learn the language......if only to be able to make more money.

The legal way of immigration is going to bring more of the forward thinking immigrants here....as it tends to bring in the most ambitious and resourceful people.......and weeds out a lot of the others.

Hispanics I think are pretty much Democrats, specially the Puerto Ricans. The Cubans however, who live in Miami and NJ seem to be more conservative and Republicans.

Deep Cover was VERY good. Barbosa was played by Gregory Sierra. Sorry Italophiles, but IMHO Gregory played a better gangster and boss than almost anyone I've seen in any other organized crime movie. Deep Cover is an old movie, but I don't get tired of rerunning it.

Gregory also played the first precinct captain in Miami Vice...before Edward James Olmos. Again...a very believable role and character. The first captain was corrupt, unlike the steely and unflappable "Castillo".

Today the State Dept. released a report that Hillary didn't follow the rules and her aides were uncooperative with investigators. This would be enough to knock anyone else out of the presidential race, but her supporters probably don't care how corrupt she is.

Without even seeing the whole report yet, there's just a huge amount of material here. One thing that's always been floating around is that the server was orginally Bill Clinton's. It seems to turn out that Bill's stuff stayed on the server concurrently with Hillary's and that Bill had his own tech person working on the server, which means that the server was always compromised. It says that it was common knowledge at State, and people were told not to talk about it, which should cause multiple people at State to be fired and have their clearances stripped. It says that Bill's tech person found several instances of attempted hacking, not all of which were reported to State. It says that Hillary did not comply with record keeping laws. It says that Hillary and her top staff refused to cooperate with the State Department in preparing the report.
