The Brooklyn U.S. Attorney’s office is opposing 99-year-old Colombo mobster John Franzese's request for an early release from prison because of his advanced age and medical issues.

Can't remember if this is the right guy, but in Kenny Gallo's book he talks about how someone named Franzese still keeps in contact with his son that turned state's evidence, that he was showing Kenny current pictures of his grandchildren, etc.

"...the successful annihilation of organized crime's subculture in America would rock the 'legitimate' world's foundation, which would ultimately force fundamental social changes and redistributions of wealth and power in this country. Meyer Lansky's dream was to bond the two worlds together so that one could not survive without the other." - Dan E. Moldea

The FEDs have no mercy for aging mobsters, Persico's sentence was also upheld a couple of days ago.

I wonder how Christy Tick managed to get out of jail..

Franzese should rot in jail for all the horrible things he's done. Persico too.

Franzese and Ianniello were still extorting businesses well into their 90's.

I wouldn't be surprised if Furnari is doing the same thing.

These guys should never be let out.

Oh they won't. Not even at the age of 100.

it's possible he's not really 99. i don't know that his d.o.b. has ever been verified,or if it's possible to at this point.i would like to believe his bday is feb 6, which would make him an Aquarius. but i can't in good faith say that he is an Aquarius. maybe he is,we may never know for sure

I think the confusion in age is he was either born in 1917 or 1919 so wouldn't make too much of a difference. My great grandfather was born in 1919 died in 2002 and I thought he lived a long ass life this dude is the true Italian Stallion. I'd put money on him in a street fight vs most men half his age too.

That's not actually such a humorous difference.
Two years at 99 is a huge amount which is not to be trivialised.
Ask a 99 year old how trivial it is to be either 99 or 97.

MORGAN: Why didn't you fight him at the park if you wanted to? I'm not goin' now, I'm eatin' my snack.
CHUCKIE: Morgan, Let's go.
MORGAN: I'm serious Chuckie, I ain't goin'.
WILL: So don't go.

Sorry if this has been covered before but was he in prison during the Orena Persico war?

The Dude: And, you know, he's got emotional problems, man.
Walter Sobchak: You mean... beyond pacifism?

Walter Sobchak: This guy f*cking walks. I've never been so sure of anything in my entire life

I believe he was in prison during the Orena/Persico war. I believe he was a Orena ally, though. My question is; Since Persico, and Franzese don't like eachother, Why hasn't Persico tried to kill him?

This is a big misconception. He sided with Persico and did everything he could to get Allie Boy in the driver's seat. Allie was a like a son to him. Sonny was even overheard on a wire saying how much he loved the Persicos lol.

I couldn't agree more. This is a guy who should never get out. He has a lot of blood on his hands and talks about it like it's a cool thing. How is it cool to be a serial killer and do heavy time? Gotti, Basciano, the Persicos are just like this guy. I will never understand why people like this are seen as legends. Just a bunch of bums.

I don't understand why people come on this board and "try" to blast people that say anything about gangsters. I have yet to see a post where someone was saying the guy was innocent and should be roaming the streets tomorrow. If gangsters trying to find a way to get out of prison bother some of you, well maybe you are just on the wrong message board.

Why join a mafia board and are so fascinated with them, then talk a bunch of shit about them?

That guy has done so much crimes in his life. He's a pretty tough guy, I'd say. Think about how much stories he has to say if you get him to talk about it.

Guy's probably met all kind of mobsters.

I ask myself the same question quite often while on here. The best are the guys who talk about these guys and call them pussies or something along those lines. Fucking guys would shit on themselves if they ever got into an altercation PERIOD never mind a street guy. I rarely contribute anymore because of the bullshit that goes on here.
