It is an amazing thing. The latest amazing part is that they're not just hanging on after some sort of hot streak. If anything, they're getting stronger:

Jan. 1: tied 1st
Feb. 1: 1st, 3 points up
Mar. 1: 1st, 2 points up
Apr. 1: 1st, 5 points up
May 1: 1st, 7 points up
In the last seven months, they only lost ground one month, and that was just one point.
To wrap up this sequence, they finished the season 10 points ahead of the field. It'll be interesting to see how they do next year when they'll have a heavy European schedule.
