They gave him 7 years because he didn't plead out to the extortion charge they were trying to hit him with. He said in the interview he would plead to the gambling which would have been a 3 to 4, but wasn't going take the charge for extortion, a crime he says he didn't commit.

Another messed up story he tells is when his mother passed away, 6 years into his sentence. The feds said they would let him attend the funeral on one condition, if he ratted on his co-d's. 6 years in and they still tried flipping the guy.
