I live in Madison, a suburb about 10 minutes outside Jackson. I am younger than Stone but he is correct in what he is saying. Going back to the days of slavery blacks wanted out of the South. To get out you had to go North. Some got to St Louis and stayed. However many kept going North to Chicago. Once they got there they stayed and started families. However they still had relatives in the South. That is how the link between Jackson and Chicago started. Then as time goes on you have people in Jackson who wanted out for better opportunities or just they were tired of a small boring city. They have family in Chicago so they go there. Same for Chicago. They want out of the big city. They have family in Mississippi so that's where they go. It's only natural crime and gangs followed suit. Larry Hoover, a founder of the GD's, is from Jackson. Im sure that played a big part in the spread of gangs as well. Simon City Royals are the gang you here most about at the moment. Several big arrests lately involving them.
