What reasons would the Italians have to kill him? They never crossed lines, Matthews didn't owe them anything. They weren't his suppliers and I don't believe he ever sold to them or through them. The only theory out there is Big Paul and others being upset that Matthews had the funds and ability to live in the same upscale, exclusive community as he did. He and Big Paul were practically neighbors, and supposedly Big Paul didn't like the fact that a black man lived in the neighborhood. Thats literally the only theory of the mob whacking him out. And I don't think Big Paul was that stupid or petty to kill over that.
