I am a long time reader of this board and finally decided to sign up and post. I was wondering what is the situation with bergen county? Who is in charge? I live here and notice that basically every place in the county is under construction. Is that the main source of income for the rackets? Aside from the bookmaking, since everyone I know has a bookie or knows a bookie. I would assume a ton of money is made in drugs - mainly heroin and coke. If you read the local papers the heroin epidemic is at an all time high now. Between people I know and things I've heard, heroin use is nuts here, mainly among high school kids because their parents cut them off and heroin is much cheaper than oxy or other pain pills.
Thanks in advance for the responses and I look forward to talking more to everyone in the future.

Just because heroin is big in your county, or drugs period, it doesn't mean it's LCN related. For instance, I'm from Long Island, in both counties, Nassau & Suffolk, heroin is an epidemic out here, yet Italian Organized Crime Groups control pretty much none of it. Thats not to say there aren't some guys still dabbling in the drug game, but this isn't the French Connection here. The Heroin dealers here, and the big money guys are all black and Hispanic, and Caucasian.
Same can be said for construction, a lot of those COULD be perfectly legal, state supervised construction firms. Dunno though, I know nothing of Bergen County, just speaking from experience as related to where I live.

LCN is basically done with heroin. Its all about mexico. Its a dirty business and lcn is not interested( for the most part ) with crimes that carry such harsh sentences. Its all about gambling, shy, and construction. At least here. Allthough, you have associates screwing around with pills amd weed.

$5M Worth Of Heroin Seized In Bergen County Connecticut man arrested after three-week long investigation yields 1.1 million decks of heroin worth $3.5 and $5 million, police said. By DANIEL HUBBARD (Patch Staff) September 9, 2015 ShareTweetGoogle PlusRedditEmailComments $5M Worth Of Heroin Seized In Bergen County A Connecticut man was arrested in Teaneck Friday after authorities seized 22 kilograms of heroin, about 1.1 million decks, worth between $3.5 and $5 million, New Jersey State Police said.
Miguel Armenta-Villa, 25 of Bakersfield, Connecticut, was arrested at 620 Bryant Ave. after authorities searched and found 22 kilograms of heroin at the residence, police said. The heroin is equivalent to 1.1 million decks of heroin. A deck is considered a single dose of heroin.
“It’s definitely one of the biggest ones in the state this year,” state police Sgt. Jeff Flynn said. ”When you’re talking about 1.1 million doses, there’s a high probability that someone’s life could be saved as a result of the investigation.”
Detectives from the state police Trafficking North Unit and members of the New York Drug Enforcement Fast Force Group arrested Armenta-Villa after a three-week long investigation, authorities said.
The state Division of Criminal Justice in the Office of the Attorney General will prosecute the case, police said.

Thanks in advance for the responses and I look forward to talking more to everyone in the future. I also live in Bergen County and I always thought there was something REALLY fishy going on with all the major construction jobs. It seems like the start the jobs with an army of workers, then it dwindles down to a few, then none but, all the equipment just sits on the site.....My assumption is that regardless whether anyone is on the site, they are charging the state as if the job is happening, non-stop as in, it took 300 days to complete......Look at the Route 17/Route 4 fiasco from 10-15 years ago. They dragged their ass it seems and THEN, they offer to bring in all their workers so that they can supposedly finish it 2 years ahead of schedule AND, that earned them a huge bonus in the millions....They got paid to do the job and it seems like they held back on purpose, just to get the payoff. Here is the truth: Where ever there is large amounts of money circulating, there is also someone on the take, with corrupt nonsense happening.....NYC takes the cake but, NJ is a close second. Also, I was talking to someone on the waterfront on the border of Bayonne and Jersey City and I asked him which one of the 5 families controls that spot? He said that it was the Irish who controlled that spot and not any of the 5 families....I was baffled by that. I believed that to be Manna and Fiumara's old area....Maybe the guy was wrong, who knows.

That sort of highway construction is not done on a time and materials basis, the state DOT pays by ton of asphalt paved, yard of dirt moved, foot of pipe put in place, yards of concrete poured, and so on. And usually there's a bonus/penalty clause. So there's big time incentive to get it done. Get it done sooner-more money. Take too long-less money. Working on existing highways like that in an urban area is a nightmare of scheduling and logistics.

Good luck filling an oxy script anywhere......
I had a serious shoulder infection and had a hell of a time filling percocet 5/325's. I went to four places and all of them were out of stock (the script was for only 16 pills!!!)
Good luck filling any blues (pure 30 mil oxy with no tylenol in them) these are the ones the kids like to snort, shoot or chase the dragon off tin foil.
The DEA really scared the shit out of all the doctors and pharmacies with all kinds of fines, throwing doctors in jail etc.
There was a time when I really thought that Nixon was a good prez. until I found out that HE created the fucking DEA.
You have no idea the shit those bastards have pulled down here in South Fl., Yeah I know the place was raining blues (oxys) but I also know people who are in serious pain and cannot get their meds ANYWHERE.
The Oxy days are over forever. Some of the people buying the H are former pain patients who just cannot get through a day they are in so much pain. Are they gonna pay 30-35$ for one blue on the street or go and find a couple of dimes in the hood????
Sal Like I said, I live in Long Island, and my insurance covers my pain meds. I get a monthly supply of blues, 180 of them. All for my back pains. They aren't hard to find as long as you can prove to the pharmacies that you have legit health issues. Places like CVS, you can forget about, mom and pop drug stores get them, Walgreens too, you just have to be specific with the script. I know for me, my insurance doesn't cover the generics, only the real deal. So I have to be specific with Walgreens as far as my script goes. And blues aren't oxys, the 30 mg's are Roxicodones. Their somewhat the same but Roxies are unequivocally stronger. And South Florida was known as pain pill capital at one point, so I can see the DEA restrictions essentially killing the practice down there.

At least $3.5M in heroin seized at N.J. house, authorities say | NJ.com http://www.nj.com/bergen/index.ssf/2015/...ost_shared-newsThis guy they arrested is from out here in CA. Bakersfield is known for its bikers and gangbangers. Fresno same thing. Edit: Another article says he's from Bakersfield, CN ?? (If this has already been posted I apologize)

There have been examples of the LCN moving heroin in recent years. Just not as often as cases of them moving cocaine or marijuana. And they typically don't control the supply of heroin like they used to. In short, the mob hasn't been pushed out of the drug trade but it has been marginalized. But as I've said, the mob - especially the NY families - are very diversified and narcotics is but one of their rackets. Diversification and sophistication is the key to the mob's staying power, not being at the top of the drug trade.
To pmac, as far as the Northeast drug trade goes, as far north as the Philadelphia/South Jersey region, the Mexicans are now the top drug traffickers. They've also continued to expand into the New York/North Jersey and New England areas. The Colombians, at least the last reports I saw, we're still the top suppliers there. For years the Dominicans were the main mid-level distributors for the Colombians and they have increasingly been supplied by the Mexicans.
To ItalianIrishMix, the Bayonne/Jersey City waterfront is ILA Local 1588 which has traditionally been Genovese territory.

SinatraClub,
I a genuinely happy that you don't have to live in pain and are able to get your meds.
The problem with South Florida was that there was a "pain clinic" on every single street corner. The place was just raining "roxies" (you are correct).
What took it all down was what ALWAYS does.....greedy and stupid people "burned it down". I was in three really bad car accidents in my life, one involved a fatality (none were my fault though)
Anyway I was going to pain clinics for awhile and what I saw just blew my mind. Most of the plates on the cars were from Georgia, Tennessee, No Carolina. The Docs would write you ANYTHING you asked for as long as you had a valid MRI that showed any kind of damage (no matter how small) In my case it was a bunch of messed up discs in my neck and back.
Many of the people didn't even take the drugs. They would sell the entire scripts off and just save a couple of pills to pass the urine tests. I knew one woman who was going to three different Dr.'s and filling scripts all over town. Shewas pulling down 5 to 8 grand a month.
I can promise you LCN was involved with the whole pain clinic thing here.
Once I was waiting to see the Dr. which used to take all of 10 minutes then you would get your scripts. While I was waiting a very typical NY Italian young man comes out to a PACKED waiting room and hollers...."I got Gucci, Fendi and Coach purses and sunglasses for sale in the back room. Needless to say a bunch of the woman and trannies that were waiting for the Doc all ran back and came out with new handbags......
You'd see people come in with wheelchairs then after they got their scripts jump up out of the wheelchair, fold them up and throw them in the trunk. People were getting off right in the parking lots!!! used needles laying around short pieces of straws and little pieces of tin foil for those who were smoking them.
So because of the above greedy stupid assholes the DEA just closed this place up tighter than a ducks ass. There are only a very few "regulars" from the old days that are still getting filled at Wallgreens. The Mom and Pop places are scared to death to carry anything narcotic at all.
The DEA scared everybody so bad that I couldn't fill 16 perc 5/325's the other day. And the script was a month old so they could see I obviously didn't "have to have them". Its always good to keep a few of those around for the occasional backache, but all that tylenol really upsets my stomach. That shit is poison.
Sal Damn, that blows. I'm genuinely sorry to hear that because I know how it is. Amazed Perc 5/325s still work for you though. The tylenol just makes my skin itch. But yeah, I saw a program about the pain clinics in Southern Florida once on NatGeo, DEA did you guys filthy. I can bet LCN had it's grubs in that whole thing, only thing that really leads a doctor to filling scripts like that is free money basically.
