@faithful
barack Obama was in Illinois policitcs for 10 years
Illinois politics is better training than most other states cook, you are kidding aren't you? is it 3 out of the last 4 governers in Illinois that went to prison? one sold obamas empty senate seat. yes, great training, gets you ready for Washington, where you can just keep on being bought. taught him how to diplomatically deal with crooks which is what the president does Chicago is a powerful city and he maneuvered through to become the president don't be mad at Obama, be mad a George bush See, that's partisan thinking. A person can disagree with Obama's policies, or they can disagree with Bush's policies, but not both. With Bush, I disagreed with the invasion of Iraq, and once we were there, the de-Baathification was wrong. However, especially after reading Michael Morell's book "The Great War of Our Time," I can see why Bush AND almost every member of Congress (including Hillary and Kerry) believed that he should have invaded. I also have issue with his new Medicare plan. Another issue is that he wasn't a fighter and allowed himself to get misrepresented without defending himself. At least Obama stands up for himself. On policies though, I disagree with most of them for reasons I can defend, just like I can defend my not liking certain policies of any other president. Sometimes I'll see people saying that only racists disagree with Obama (not saying that anyone here said that). That's stupid and is in itself racist. It basically says that he's too weak to handle criticism. To me it seems that he's perfectly capable at defending himself, far better than the previous president. So if you're going to support Obama because he's Obama, then it shows that you're only interested in partisan politics. I've been an independent since I started voting, and I will criticize anyone who I believe is not doing the right thing for the American people.

Ivy, there are those in the African American community that don't like Obama, but he is better then the last president. He is just not good for a Caucasian health, notably the rich type who loves their money. I voted for him the first time, this last time around I went with an independent. Footreads, what's next? NYPD start carrying squirt guns? Though it is good see them laying off the other ethnic groups. There are those in the African American community who don't like Obama? You mean all 5 of them? And Obama being better than Bush is debatable to say the least.

He is not most blacks he is special. Raised in Moslim countries his daddio was a Moslem until he wound up in Hawaii with mommy nice ghetto. I thought I had it tough. Then he became a Protestant? How did that happen? But evidently it did happen It happened because he recognized he had to appear to identify with those who's political support he would need. Most of the black community was Protestant so he played along. Now, mind you, I'm in no way saying Obama is a "secret Muslim." One can see certain leanings of his when it comes to Israel and Palestine but that's due much more to the typical pro-Palestinians/anti-Israel political sentiments many on the left hold. Obama is your classic modern day secular progressive who really couldn't care less about religion.

It's well documented as Faithful said that he was a member of a Church. A nutty Church that taught black nationalism but still a Church. But yeah he's definitely more on the progressive side. I mean Roosevelt was technically on the progressive side for the time period. Anyone know how religious he was?

He would probably be considered religiously conservative or evangelical. Politically he was conservative on some issues and progressive on others, but progressivism back then wasn't far to the left like it is today. He was clearly liberal on economic issues in the sense that he was for increased regulation such as being for minimum wage laws and was a known "trust buster."

I actually know several black people and work with a few of them. What mess of Bush's did Obama clean up? Iraq? By that logic Bush had to clean up Clinton's mess. And Obama completely pulled out of Iraq instead of leaving reserve forces like Bush and others recommended and, well, we saw the result. But what am I talking to you for? Obama could set an orphanage on fire and you'd find some way to defend him.

Faithful, seeing as you are a man well versed in political lore, I ask you this: you think we're ever going to get a President with true leadership and vision again? Someone like Teddy, or FDR, Reagan, JFK or Lincoln? I hate the goddamn political elite we have today

I liked Kasich a lot. Not to mention he's from Ohio, a key state to win for the Republicans.
Carly Fiorina is sharp as a tack. Fuck Hillary, that woman could be President of the United States. I want to see her on the prime time debate. I lost respect for Fiorina after she pandered to the psychotic anti-Vaxx folks. You might as well pander to the Hollow Earth folks and Loch Ness Monster believers. Actually, I take that back. Nobody dies because of the latter two's insanity. I like Kasich, and if he was the nominee...he might win. But he's running to be the Jon Huntsman of this primary. He's not winning.

We did need more troops in Iraq? That is why Iran and Isis took Iraq over.
We better not intervene in Iraq with Isis. Hopefully Iran and Isis will kill each other off. You know, there was a psychopath who actually kept that insane asylum of a country contained for eons. Too bad Dubya took his head off and we're paying for it. It's weird how Bush Sr. foresaw the very thing his boy clearly didn't. People crucified Bush Sr. for not going into Iraq and "finishing the job." But he knew better. Nevermind he had no international consensus/alliance to do that, but he understand that if the Iraqi state was to collapse, there would be chaos that the U.S. forces would be forced to deal with and Iranians would use that opportunity to exert influence over the Shiite community in that country. A Republican wise/sane with foreign affairs? Would love to see that exist again, instead of simply reactionary posturing.

I've known Ronnie for a very long time, and although he's floated a bit too far to the Left for my taste (he used to be much more of a Centrist, like myself), I can honestly say that he has no love for Hillary. She's done anyway. I told you guys eight years ago that she'll never see the Presidency. And she won't.
A leftie on some matters, a rightie on others. But the GOP has become so damn insane, anything considered sane and decent is "liberal" compared to them anymore. Remember that Ronald Reagan quote: "I didn't leave the Democratic Party. It left me." Ronnie what do you think of Bernie Sanders? Honestly I've not actually "cared" about the Democratic primaries so far, or emotionally invest myself. So I have no opinion about him so far. 2 things however are hilarious: (1) Hillary once again as heir apparent/cake-walk-to-Presidency is being threatened with being toppled by a supposed "too liberal" candidate that unlike her, seems to stir up some actual passion among the base. (2) that the candidate that shall supposedly carry the Dems' liberal banner against the Republicans (led by those old white guys)....is an old white guy.
