It's funny that you mentioned this article because, in New York in the late 80s early 90s the law enforcement heat that was on LCN was at it's climax. To fill the void, a bunch of Israeli immigrants started working together to form an organization that reached from 47th street to Brighton Beach to Arthur Avenue incorporating the entire 5 boroughs and eventually built up such a profitable organization they began working with the Italians sharing rackets such as the Gasoline scam, one of the most profitable rackets in history. This is a wonderful documentary about the Israeli Mafia in New York.
