Best advice...Educate yourself well, get a few lessons to tidy things up and PRACTICE! In all honesty, clubs are fairly secondary at our level, as long as you get your swing basics nailed properly....also get a pre-shot routine into your game and NEVER hit any shot without it, either on the range or course, including putting.

Amen. But using new technology like hybrids AFTER you learn the basics is oK. I have a 3 hybrid. Excellent for long shots from the rough ( I have a lot of those lol ).

British Open. Can Spieth make it 3 Majors? Gosh, this guy is hot. I'm pulling for him.

Watched Tom Watson close out his career at the Open. Great golfer, great man. He won the Open 5 times...not too shabby.

Is there a particular aspect of your game that you need to improve? If it's a general shotmaking issue then I would suggest going to the range with one club. A nine iron. Get your swing down and get your rhythm going. The swing doesn't change depending on your club (your stance will change, though).

Short game not bad, on the green good , out of sand good and from 100 yards out pretty good. Its my stance, its off the tee.

I can spray the ball, left for a Hook, right for a slice or right down the middle for a nice fairway shot but inconsistantly....its a crapshoot on the tee.

Hell, I'm not a great golfer by any means. But when I'm "playing" (meaning three rounds a week, plus a trip to the range), I'm about a 12 handicap, give or take. When I'm not "playing," I could easily go out and shoot 100.

If you're not a pro (and it's truly a God given talent, don't let anyone kid you), you have to play or you're gonna be stuck in the high 90's or low 100s, at best.

But back to SC's advice. Take it. Work your way up to a five iron (forget the 3 and 4 irons, they're dated and useless to a weekend golfer). Then get yourself a hybrid, a 7 wood and a 5 wood. And THEN worry about your driver (and buy a "friendly" driver, there are scores of them on the market today).

I have several drivers and trying to narrow down which is best for me.

I should hit a three wood off the tee but thats no fun, I want to tame one of these Drivers so I can take it on the Par 5 holes.

Heading out Monday to a local long course, will probably bring The Squarehead Nike Sumo Driver but should bring the Taylor Made. fUN fUN fUN.

Thanks guyz, I will keep it all in Mind.

This will be a crazy Monday finish. There are at least a half dozen who could win...maybe more.

I am in a foursome tomorrow but would rather remain home and watch this all unfold.

I will DVR it and try not to hear or see any of the action, we usually go to lunch after the round so, it will be difficult not to hear of or see the updates.

Best of Luck to Sergio.

Dues, will Sergio ever win a Major? How about Lee Westwood? Destined to follow in the steps of Colin Montgomerie. Can Dustin Jonnson do it? He shot a pair of 75s on the weekend. You have to think that McIlroy and Spieth will dominate for the next 7 years or more.

Think of some of the one time wonders: Trevor Immelman, Masters, Lucas Glover, US Open; Stewart Cink, British Open. Fickle game. Who is next?

Certainly not Sergio but I like the odds when wagering.

I think I will also have to start to lay a wager on Woods, he should get it back for another big one like some of the more dominant of the past have done.

Westwood looks like he should have already gotten one of those Majors, so I say yes, he will follow in Monte's steps and not get one, that ship may have sailed, its just that some guys just get that zone and it lights up 2010 was his year to do it but did not get it done.

Rory's injury seams minor, so I agree, he will be there again.
Speith for sure as well. I just cant make money with those guys so they will not be my picks.

Dustin can and probably will, but I will not be rooting for him.
I just cannot get over the way he walked off the course and out of the facility at the Open, no class. Dustin Johnson leaving his runner up chair empty at the presentation was rediculous.

Even Tiger sticks around to do his duty and even answer stupid questions after a lose.

I will be following an Aussie, John Senden. The guy is tight with Greens in regulation, a long ball hitter and only needs to have a hot day with the putter to win a Major. He will be there.

Let me know what you think M.

Very Nice, enjoy.

I reccomend the golf logix app if you use a smart phone.

It really is amazing, gives you all distances for almost any course, great tracking to advance your play. Special offers on everything golf.

And Free.

Unless you want the upgraded version.
That is 10 or 20 bucks a year.

Yes, I remember it being Bubba but alot of factors contribute to a long Drive.

I would rather be consistant in short game than a long driver.

At today's 3rd round of the Bridgestone T of Champions, Jim Furyk set the record for Green's in Regulation - 700. I think I might have 650 to catch him.

Dont forget his ( Furyk) - half a Rock for third place.

Yup, a half a million dollars for Third Place.

Not bad for a few days of Golf.

I will be out tomorrow for 18 holes, weather looks good.

Dues. I just resigned from my current job. I got some golf on the schedule for next weeks. Can't wait to see what the muscle memory remembers. Played 9 in April. Should be a hoot.

Nice, good luck. I remember once I walked into my local haunt I was hangin at, at the time and yelled out " I just quit my Job and feel feel fuckin great"

Well the place erupted and screamin laughter, It was a blast.

Hope someone buys you a beer. And I hope you find the deep middle of the fairway on every Tee.

Go hit em up and have a great time.

I was hot today on the front 9, shot a 48, thought this was the day but shot a 57 on the back for a 105.

The 105 is my low for the season, maybe next time i'll break 100.

Have fun and good luck Cas

Aug 18, played 18, shot 108 with a couple of Mulligans thrown in. Par'd one hole, par 3. No excuses, but I did tweak my back on the second hole. Had fun. Boomed a couple of drives and a fairway 3 wood; chunked a few chips, made some 10-12 ft putts and threw in a few 3 putts. Highlight of the round - safely hit out of 3 greenside bunkers.

Aug 25, played 9, walked by myself. Didn't keep score. Par'd a short 3 - 110 yards. Par'd a short 5; on in 3, lipped out the bird. A couple of triple bogeys. Might play again this week. Two weeks of not working feels great. Went to the beach 5 times. Nice scenery; water warms, waves up.

Played 18 on Sunday - The Emanon CC in Exeter Twp, PA. Emanon spelled backwards is No Name. Was having a little lower back/hip issues. Affected my take away and transition to the down swing. Did manage 2 pars (both 3s). Was not striking the ball well in the fairway. Went to the chiropractor this morning. See how it feels tomorrow.

Look out Rory and Jordan! Here comes Jason. Should be an interesting run at the FED EX if these 3 are on their game. And don't forget Bubba.
