Michael was an arch criminal who could have walked away from the criminal life at any time, but chose not to. He doesn't have my sympathy. Fredo's "good heart" nearly got his brother and sister in law massacred. He doesn't have my sympathy either.

If there's one moral to the Godfather Trilogy, it's this: Crime Doesn't Pay.
