dixiemafia, that's true he always had the respect of his teammates, I think because the media made him out to be something he wasn't.
he wasn't a selfish ballplayer, like some today. he started out making 27,000 a year, and he admitted in his book he was never the big playboy they made him out to be.
in his book Bryant said his most loved player was pat trammel.and the best he ever coached was Leroy Jordan.
a lot of myth in Namath, he only had one great year. bart starr played at Alabama, and as a pro led a dynasty.
Namath was good but, like I mentioned mostly myth.
