TIS, His son Andrew had been re-elected to office in November and Mario celebrated with his family at the campaign headquarters when the election was won by his son. I believe it was the day following the election that Mario was admitted to the hospital with heart related issues. He had been released from the hospital for awhile but had to be readmitted in December. Here's a picture of him with his son, Andrew, following the election. You can see he looks somewhat frail.
