think it was at that guy Thomas farese trial ray was on the stand and his lawyers fought tooth and nail for the fbi to have to show the technology used in recorded them guys and for them to take a look at it. the feds got there way and the judge threw out the request cause it would expose people in the field today or other wired up mobsters.

Doubt we'd ever hear about it. The mob would never tell for obvious reasons, the Feds would never say anything because of the liability/lawsuits, and any informant that had knowledge would be told to shut up or lose his get out of jail free card.

If you believe the family of Frank Lagano, it happened recently right here in Jersey. They are claiming the Bergen County Detectives dimed him out as well....

That happened during the hells angels biker war up here in Quebec.

The angels along with their chieftain 'Mom', were staying at this hotel for a weekend and a cop from Ontario, with his montreal partner, took up a room next to them for surveillance, only to find out one day that someone had broken into their room, and stole a laptop from the OPP officer, which contained at least one source's name, Claude Desserres. The montreal cop confronted 'Mom' about the theft and demanded the stuff back, and was told ''This ain't my problem, I'm not with the police'', lol.

Long story short, the angels lured him out north of montreal during winter to check out a new grow-op, and when he opened the door to the place, he had a gun shoved in his face, and within a minute or two was shot to death, and abandoned on a side of the road, tied up.

Only thing about it is, Desserres was wearing a bodypack(wire) the whole time, including the trip, and his death. They recently, in a french OC documentary, release the audio on that, and you can hear the killer's and the victim's last exchanges which went something like this:

HA: I want to know TWO things.
C.D: Go ahead.
HA: You work for the police, and I want to know for how long.
C.D(realizing the gig was up): Well... I got a real problem here, hm..

Two shots then rang out.

What's amazing is the carelessness of murdering an informant and not having the wits to check him out for that sort of stuff, but yeah, the audio just chills your blood when you hear it. The police recovered the bodypack and used it as evidence to jail the guy heard on tape killing that informant.

I remember reading somewhere that a guy named Nat Masselli was killed that way. But in Fish Cafaro's testimony he later said that someone had asked the boss for permission to kill Masselli before he ended up dead.
