I looked into De Blasio's unforgivable sin, the act that made thousands of "righteously angry" NYPD attempt to make him an intolerable pariah....

He had the damned audacity, the unmitigated gall, to voice the mere concern that he was afraid for his own son in the present environment of policing.

OMG How DARE he?

Now that's petty and petulant. Seriously, a flying banner from an airplane saying 'we turn our backs to you'? Seriously? That's sad and pathetic.

I agree with you alpha, the attitude that the nypd is putting forth is " the cops are always right" is wrong. some things need discussion, turning their back on the mayor because he doesn't give the police blanket ammunity on all police killings, is a slap in the face to the people of nyc, after all the mayor was elected by the people.

im not from nyc but, the police ignoring the elected mayor, could split the city, and that would not be good.

Many on the police force would really like to boycott the democratically elected Mayor. Shut him down anyway they can, just because he expressed concern over his own son. But New York City does not belong to them. And de Blasio was not elected by the police. He was elected by a majority of the people of New York City.

The Mayor, as the representative of the majority that elected him has the right to ask questions about concerns he might have. If someone feels that being questioned and/or investigated is beneath them, then the meaning of what it means to belong to an "all men are created equal" democracy is lost to them. They are not above questioning. And they must answer.
