Joel's father (Gerald's brother) was a mob connected fight promoter named Bernie Glickman.
Milwaukee Phil choked Bernie over a dispute concerning the Clay-Terrell fight. Shortly thereafter, he went down to the feds. His testimony started a Grand Jury investigation into rackeering in the boxing industry.
They put a contract on him but he got it cancelled after Roemer set up a meet between Glickman and Accardo. Apparently, Glickman promised not to rat out Tony and he called the contract off.
